The way to safety

I took the hand of my sister and started running. But when we got to the door there was a death-slayer, and, I thought I would die there.

But a girl appeared. She was around her 20's. She got  out a gun and shoot the death-slayer that  was on the door, and also another death-slayer that was chasing us. There were many questions in my head, but I only cared one thing.

"Mom!" I shouted "Mom!"

"Shut up!" The girl hissed at me "More of them would come!"

"But my mom!" I cried.

"Maryanne? Bella?" Mom shouted. She wasn't that far.

"Mom!" Maryanne shouted and ran to get her. I ran too. She had been hurt. I could see she had some cuts. But what surprised me more was the baseball bat, that was covered in blood. She had killed a death-slayer. But I didn't care. I hugged her.

"Come On! More of the creatures would be coming!" Said the girl "We have to go!"

"Excuse me, but who are you?" Mom asked.

"My name is Molly. I fight demon-slayers" She said "Now, we gotta go!"

We followed Molly into a boat that was in the shore of the island. We got in and Molly drove the boat into the sea.

"Are you from the government?" Mom asked

"No. I am from a town that had been taken by the creatures. We were hoping the government would help us, but they didn't. So we drove the demon slayers away. Since that, we are helping people trapped in their Basements in small towns... or really small islands." Molly said. Chili started to sleep. He was tired. But when the motor started running he creeped out and it was so funny me and my sister started laughing. Then he started sleeping again.

Some hours passed and we landed in America. Our island was very small, and near America, so being there in a couple of hours wasn't surprising. We were on Happy Valley. There was a car near the shore. Molly got out some keys.

"We are going to go to our shelter. It will only take a few days." She said. A few days. That meant travelling by car. Ugh, I really hate travelling by cars. I prefer airplanes. It's not that I love airplanes, but I prefer them.

We placed the bags that we brought from the house and that Molly had with her in the jeep. We all got in. Everywhere we passed was abandoned. Sometimes we found some death-slayers. But Molly got rid of them. We drove and drove and drove until we had to stop so I could throw up. Being a lot of time in cars makes me dizzy. And we also had to stop so my dog could... do his... things. We were still driving when it was nearly 10 p.m. Chili was sleeping. Why could he sleep anywhere? He once got lost and found an empty trash can as his bed. And the vet said he had a good sleep.

Molly stopped at an abandoned motel.

"We'll sleep here." She said

"There could be death-slayers there." My mom sharply said to Molly. She obviously didn't like her. Maybe it was the way she killed demon-slayers like nothing. Or that she used guns.

We got in the motel. It seemed abandoned, but I heard the sound of guns and I knew there were some death-slayers. But Molly killed them fast. She lead us to a room that had no blood or bodies. I couldn't sleep that night. I was so worried that a death-slayer could crawl inside the room and kill us all. But Molly had painted the windows black and she had put the sofa and desk against the wall. So why was I worried?

The next days were like that. Passing  through abandoned or destroyed. Some unfortunate death-slayers in the way. And small motels.

"We're almost there" Molly said, one day

"Do you mean the place were the other people are?" Maryanne said, with a smile. I knew what she thought. Safety.

"Yes" Molly said. She was very quiet. She just spoke when she had to.

Maryanne smiled again, so do I. But mom frowned. She was expecting wild and "gross" people. People she thinks that would harm me and Maryanne. But, guessing by the way Molly protected us, they would protect us. So I don't worry very much.

"In how many time would we be in there?" mom asked, impatient. She didn't want us to be with those people, but she wanted us to be safe, and that is a safe place.

"5 hours" She said.

"How is the place?" Maryanne asked, as curious as always.

"Hidden. It has a very good camouflage. My dad did it himself." She said, with a smile. I felt bad, because, I didn't know anything about him, possibly because they invaded our home. What would he think, when he sees the open Basement and Mom, Maryanne and me gone? He's possibly dead, so that won't happen. Ugh. I forgot that I had that annoying voice in my head. She hadn't appeared in a few days, after that Molly appeared. Maybe because she gave me hope. And no, it isn't possible that dad is dead. Because he is not dead.

Molly, suddenly, drove the car to a wetland, and she stopped the car.

"Why are we stopping?" Mom hissed at Molly. Molly looked at her angrily.

"We have to get there by walking." She said. "Now everybody get two bags."

I got out of the car, and Molly handed Maryanne the 2 lightest bags. It's not fair! I mean, I know she is little and weak, but it is just not fair!  Molly handed me 2 bags. There were also light ones. And she handed mom the two heaviest bags. Mom frowned.  But she couldn't complain. Molly carried 3 bags.

She covered the jeep in weed that were there, like if they were placed for that. Well... maybe they could be there for that.

We walked and walked and walked until my legs burned and me and Maryanne were too tired to continue.

"We are very near, you got to get up." Molly said at us. She was very worried.

"Don't you see they're tired? They're kids!" Mom hissed at her.

"It is going to be night soon, and even this territories are dangerous" Molly said. Mom looked at us.

"Bella, Maryanne, get up, we are going to get there soon." She said.

"But mommy, I'm tired" Maryanne said

I stood up. I want to sleep in a safe place tonight. I looked at Maryanne. She stood up, too. We walked until it was almost night.

"Stop. We're here" Molly said. But there was nothing.

Then, she moved some weed that was in front of her. And there was some trunks, that, for me, just seemed like some tree that had fell long ago. Molly moved the trunks and there was a hole. She jumped in, and helped Maryanne in. Then she helped me, and mom jumped in. Mom moved the trunks so they covered the hole, and pulled a stick, and I could hear leaves falling. Then Molly walked a bit further in the hole, and there was a metallic door, and there were some numbers there. She pressed some. And I didn't pay much attention to what numbers she pressed. Then, the door opened.
