Gale High, the place of wonders for most. Yet to Harley, this place was the place of limbo.

She slogged through the halls, her ear buds stuffed into her ears. She stood out from the crowd of girls she passed. They all stood in bright colors and tight clothes, yet she wore a black wrestling hoodie and skinny jeans.

As she stood at her locker, she felt someone come up beside her. She smirked, looking over to see a familiar white haired asshole. "Harley, nice to see you put a bunch of effort into your outfit," the girl said teasingly.

Harley laughed, opening her locker easily. "Good morning to you too, Elza," she said, stuffing her bag into the locker and pulling out a binder full of lined paper and a pencil bag.

The white haired girl smiled. Her name was Elzabeth Christensen, and she had been friends with Harley for years. While Harley was often soft spoken and reserved, Elza was loud and obnoxious. She had a twin brother, but his anxiety was so severe that he couldn't attend school. She was dressed in tight clothes, but she wore only black, white, and gray.

"So~" Elza purred, bouncing on her heels. "Did you hear the new story?"

Harley rolled her eyes. Elza was an avid reader of the school webpage, which was full of stories about angels and devils that tied with the city.

"Elza, you know I don't care about this," Harley sighed. "There's no such thing as angels." Harley never believed in anything involving angels and devils. She wasn't religious and never really cared for anything like that.

Elza rolled her eyes, pushing the ravenette playfully. "But they exist! And the latest story is that an angel has fallen in town and landed somewhere close. There are pictures and everything!"

Harley was about to reply, but the bell rang. "Okay, Elza... Well, I've got to go to class. Have fun with your stories," she said, waving as she walked away.

*Elza POV*

I watched her walk away, biting my lip. I stepped away and grabbed my phone, heading outside. As I dialed a number, teachers came up to me ready to command me inside. I waved my hand, the teachers eyes glazing over before they turned and walked back in.

"Hey Elza. What's happening?" a voice said from the other line.

I sighed and rubbed my nose. "She still refuses to believe..." I whispered. "What else can we do, Jon? She's our charge to watch over... Isn't she?"

My brother sighed, staying silent for a minute. "Head back here... We can talk more about it and try and figure out a new plan of attack."

"Alright, I'll see you soon," I said before hanging up. I looked at the school behind me before sighing. "Screw this place..." I whispered before turning.

My wings spread in the air and I flew off, thinking of how I could save my best friend...
