(Y/n) was taking her normal jog in town except this one was different. She decided to go the long way to give herself an extra challenge. She had her headphones/earbuds in, so she could ignore any distractions. Yet when she was crossing the road, little did she know that there was a big rig to her left a hummer to her right. First, the Rig slammed into her before hitting the brakes and swerving. Then the hummer T-boned the Rig with you caught in the middle. The windshield glass from the hummer shattered, you had ended up with some of it in your neck. It wasn't long before you passed out from all of the pain.
(Y/n)t's POV
When you woke up, you were in a hospital bed. There was so much pain that it was all you could feel. You tried to scream from how much there was but it was no use. The glass that was in your neck was in your vocal cord causing you to lose your voice. There was no sound to your screams, crying, or any communication at all. You couldn't even hum. The doctor came into your room as your mouth stayed open as you were trying to scream. He rushed over.
"Stop!! The more you do that the more you may open the stitches!" He yelled at you.
You mouthed the words 'Why can't I speak?!'
"You were hit by two different vehicles and glass ruptured your vocal cords causing you to lose your voice. By you trying to talk or even scream can cause the stitches to break." He started answering your question.
He walked out leaving you to be alone with your thoughts. That scared you.
What will people think of me? Will my friends still be there for me? Who will be there for me if they aren't there waiting for me? What if...
What ifs were all that ran through your mind. A single tear rolled down you check as your eyes drooped down from exhaustion.
When you woke up you were still lying in that same hospital bed, in the same room, in the same hospital gown. It stayed that way for a while.
~Time skip brought to you by Writer-chan!~
It's been a week or so and you can finally get out of your room. You just can't leave the hospital. They gave you a notebook along with a pen and some of your belongings like your phone. You didn't care though. You would walk to the garden and sit there through for the day. Some of the patients would stare and people walking to get to work would point an stare. You didn't care though.
Fuck them... They will never know what it's like to be me... To be mute.
You looked down and a tear ran down your cheek.
You felt the bench move to the left side of you. You didn't move. You didn't even care anymore.
"Why are you crying?" A monotone voice asked.
You grabbed your notebook and wrote
'Take a guess"
"Oh... If I say sorry would it matter?" He asked.
"Why?... Should it?" You asked
"Thought so... You're one of the stopped caring types then." He said.
He grabbed your chin with his fire finger and thumb making you look at him. You guys were less than a few inches, no centimeters apart. You started to blush.
"Never Mind, you do care." He said with a smirk.
"Do you want coffee, maybe a water?" He asked back to his monotone self.
"Can't, and I don't even know your name..."
"The names Levi." He said
"My name is (y/n). Why are you here if I may ask."
"You are a polite one... Now, aren't you!" He said as if bored.
"If your gonna be like that then shove off."
You left the notebook, and with that, you walked off leaving him there with his thoughts.
Levi's POV
She stood up and left me. I reached out for the notebook she had left behind. It read ' if your gonna be like that then shove off' "tch" was all I could do. I watched her slowly walk off. She seemed to be slowly trying to get back to the hospital. I got up to go get her, but that was when she fell. I ran to her side and as soon as I saw her face I automatically grabbed her and brought her to the people inside. She was as light as a feather. I could tell she was still recovering. The stitches were everywhere.
"Chief hurry its the girl from the accident!!" One of the doctors said before taking her to the E.R. I just stood there, 'the accident?' Wait... The news!' I got out my phone and checked the news.
"Car accident took place in a local town. A girl was hit by a Big Rig then stuck between that and a hummer. She is still in the hospital under recovery but we already have people setting up candles and flowers hoping all goes well for her recovery."
I stop there astound that she was just up and walking a bit ago then again it has been about a week, but still.
I stayed in the waiting room. It was about an hour later before they came out to get me.
"She should be fine... If it weren't for you she could have died. Some of the stitches from the inside of her throat were starting to open. We can understand though from all of her cryings. It was very little thank the lord but it could've gone wrong at any moment." The doctor said.
"When can I see her?!" I asked.
"You can go in now but she won't wake for a while." He said.
I ran to the desk lady who was super slow...
"Where is (y/n)'s room?!! I was just told by the doctor that I could see her!!!" I said earnestly.
"Room 205c," the lady said.
I ran... Like no tomorrow. I barely knew the girl. Yet I wanted to make sure she was okay. I didn't know why, but there was this feeling involved. I couldn't describe it but I felt it.
