"Happy first day back, class!," Mr. Fiar (fly with out the L sound and add are), more well known as The Brilliant Flame, said with enthusiasm "Although this is your last year, if you pass the final test, we will be doing the same thing as last year. You will be split into teams of three. And so here all the teams-". At this I doze off until I hear my name. Mr. Fiar announces "Team 7 is Ryu Kitaro, Lan-". Once I heard my name I left the classroom because we're allowed to leave once we know what team we're on. In the hallway, I walk to Ms. Aguard's, who's hero name is Tsunami, classroom and lean against the wall next to it. I take my katana out and a handkerchief and started to shine it. I soon feel a warm familiar, feminine hand on my bicep. I then turn to see my twin sister, Aira Kitaro. "I will assume that once again," as she talked Aira turned, leaned, and smiled gleefully, "you have no idea who's in your team.". I pushed up my spiky, brown hair and giggled "Nope, not a single clue.". We started to walk towards the exit until we heard a voice yell "Ryu! Aira! Wait up!!!". We turned around and my best friend, Lane Buthainah, jumped onto me. "Ah, hey Lane.," we continued to walk as I carried her, "It's been the same routine each year. You jumping on me and me carrying you.". Lane and I have been mistaken for a romantic couple and I see how but through our fifteen years of knowing each other, we strictly stuck to a "best friends forever-ship", plus, she has a boyfriend. Aira and Lane don't really seem like best friends but Aira's always saying "A best friend of Ryu, is a best friend of mine.". Lane hopped off of me and took a folded piece of paper out of her pocket. She flashed it in our faces and Aira glanced over to where it said "Team 7" then she could barely talk from laughter "Ryu, you lucked out this year. Ha ha ha!!!! You- aha!!!! You're- he he he he ha!!!! You're in the same team as Kek Dusk.". Ugh, I thought to myself, why do I have to be in the same team as him! Kek Dusk is the so called cool bad boy of the school and he's a real (butt)hole. But I have to put up with him because he's also Lane's boyfriend. By the time Aira, Lane, and I were 14, Lane and Kek got together and he's been policing what me and Lane do together. Basically he's like a protective father. Well, a protective father figure, who's dating her. Sounds weird.... But anyways, he's just annoying. "Oh!" I said pointing to our destination, the exit, "Speak of the devil.". Aira, rolling on the floor laughing, almost threw up.
"Aw man, Ryu! If I was I assigned for the martial arts homeroom too, you probably wouldn't be on the same team as him."
Lane looks at us, disappointed, then walked over to Kek. Kek flipped his emo hair, flapped his leather jacket, and slowly took Lane by the waist. They began to talk about something inaudibly and Kek looked at me from over his shoulder. This is gonna be, I thought to myself, almost upset, one heck of a year. Aira and I soon exit the school too and head home. Once we exit, we pass by the senior citizens home, the fast food restaurants, the playground, and the forest leading to the village. In the village, we searched for Lane and realized she was probably back in the city with Kek. Also, another thing about Kek, he's like Deans Jame in "Insubordinate Without a Cause". His mom and dad are rich, so they live in the city but he still acts like an Oiler, like from the book "The Foreigner" or in the movie "Hair Oil". When inside our home, we're greeted by our mother, a low-payed scientist, and our father, a former rank B hero and currently a pet carer. I put my katana on the wall and head to my room. I then take a folded paper from my pocket and lay it out on my desk. It was my year's schedule and, like last year, we only have two classes. I know, I know. It's not much of a school but it's what you need to go through to be a hero. Also, everyday we have class, we have a test. Most of the tests are physical, but once in a while we have an intellectual challenge. But, by the end of the year, we have to have at least one ability from our power-kents mastered or else we'll have to redo three whole years. I've gotten no where with dragon kin but this year, it's promising.
