Journal Entry: Day 1

I don't even know why I'm writing in this stupid little book. How am I supposed to start? I guess I'll start with my story.

My name is James, and my brother Nick and I are half vampire and half wizard (The vampire came later). When I was younger, me and my brother where bitten by a vampire and when my dad found us the vampire was long gone. My father called in special wizards to make potions for me and my brother to make us normal again but even they had never seen anything like it before. Knowing the wizard world would not accept us, my father made a decision to have us go to human schools. We started human school at five like everyone else, but immediately we were alienated. We were the kids parents told their children to stay away from which caused us not to have friends at all. We were also targeted for bullying. People called us weird and loners and freaks and many names like that because we could do things they couldn't. At the age of 13 I could do mixed martial arts and run faster then everyone in my school. Also my eyes started to change from their original ocean blue to foggy grey. After that I was never bullied because people knew me and my brother would snap them in half. Some kids did try to challenge us though and paid for it severely. When we were finished with them at least all of them had 3 broken bones and one had his 4 of his teeth knocked out. That was 3 years ago. Today was a very different day though, it's my 16th birthday and as usual it was the worst day of my life.

"Are you actually writing in that thing?" Nick said walking into the living room with a soda in his hand.

"Do you have anything better to do other than sit around, bitching and moaning about nothing going your way?" I asked closing the book.

"Remember who the older one is in this situation," he said smacking the back of my head "I don't bitch and moan. I complain. There is a difference."

I shook my head, stretching my legs out on the couch. Even though Nick was the oldest he surely didn't act like it. Ever since our mom ran off and found love elsewhere, I had become the responsible one in the family. This included making sure food was made, bills were paid on time, and the house was clean. I also had my job after school at the local burger shop as a waiter. With the money that I bring in from my job added with my dad's is just enough to keep everything up and running. Nick sat across from me talking about some girl he met at the mall today and how he got her number. Honestly, whenever Nick starts to talk I usually drown him out because almost anything that comes out his mouth is a lie, a complaint, or just stupid.

"Hey it's your birthday, stop looking so downcast. Be happy. You can finally drive." He said grinning

"I won't be driving anytime soon," I stood up stretching "I have to go to work anyway so why would I be happy?"

I made my way upstairs throwing on a hoodie, shoes, and my lucky grey beanie.

"Damn, I'm hot as hell." I said smirking in the mirror.

I wasn't trying to be cocky or arrogant, the evidence was there. I was tall and lean, with light green eyes and brown hair cut in a faux style. I guess the vampire part was just a bonus to the already amazing creation that was me. Okay maybe I was a little cocky. I walked back downstairs grabbing my keys, heading off to work. The restaurant was not very far from my house so I usually walked every day. The sidewalks were littered with multi colored leaves, being blown around like a mini tornado by the shivering autumn winds. The sun had slipped back behind the clouds, giving today a gloomier feeling than every other day. I opened the door to the restaurant and was immediately hit with the hot air that was flowing throughout. I quickly went to the back, taking off my hoodie, putting on my vest, pants and shoes. I walk into the kitchen, greeting the kitchen staff.
