Evangeline's pov
Tugging at my school uniform, I trudged my way to my new school. I signed. I just moved to Paris to start a, what my mum liked to call it, new life. Ugh. Even though I am elated that my dad got a promotion, and I got a chance to escape my past, I just detested the first days of school. New classes. New friends. New teachers. Not to mention I was the new kid.

Taking in a deep breath, I entered the main door and was instantly greeted by a swarm of students, bustling aroundm the already busy hallway. They were all either chatting away or scrambling to finish their school homework. But the thing that caught my eye was that all the students were bustling about in groups and I stuck out like a sore thumb. "It will be a piece of cake, dear. Don't worry, "My mom's words from earlier rung in my ears. She was right, everything was gonna be OK, as if. Keeping my head low, I manovoured around all the students, being careful not to draw any attention to myself, thus making my way to my designated classroom.

"Good morning class and welcome back for the new school term, "The teacher said excitedly. I rolled my eyes mentally. How could a teacher actually be excited for a new school term?
Gesturing towards me, she continued, "Today, we have a new student joining us from England. Class this is Evangeline Williams, please treat her nicely." Taking that as my cue, I shuffled my feet to the only empty seat left, next to a boy with messy blond hair, who seemed to be trying his very best not to fall asleep. Just as I was about to reach my seat, I tripped over something, thus causing me to fall flat onto the ground with a loud 'thud'. From my position on the floor, I could hear laughter. Just great, it was the first day and I already embarrassed myself. Raising my head, my eyes locked with a pair of ocean blue eyes. A pair of lovely, yet oddly familiar ocean blue eyes. Accepting his extended hand, the blonde boy pulled me off the ground and 'escorted' me to my seat.

"Thank you for helping me..."I started but stopped, once I realised that I did not even know his name. As if reading my mind he answered, adding a shrug at the end, "Name's Lucas Hollands, but everybody calls me Luke. And no need to thank me, I mean it is what friends do right? "
"Wait, so we are like friends? "I asked excitedly, jumping in my seat. With an amused grin, Lucas nodded his head before replying, "Of course, I mean if you want to..." Smiling like an idiot, I nodded my my head enthusiastically, causing Lucas to chuckle. That was all it took and for the rest of the day, all I could think about was Lucas and our new friendship. One that I promised to keep forever.
