I picked up the blade and put the metal against my skin. I took a deep breath in and then out again. I had promised myself to keep the doors locked, but I let them be opened. I know that it was my fault. If I had kept up my will to stay distracted when I got the urge, then I wouldn't be here, breaking every single promise that I'd made to the lads over the past year and a half. B
Brad didn't understand. I had hoped James would, he was bullied, after all. Turns out, he didn't. "It's what weak people do," he'd said.
Tristan understood. He had given in to his first urge after problems at home. Even though he only did it twice, he was the only one who had some experience with it, him being on the receiving end of his own self loathing.
I promised myself that I would never do it again, not only for myself, but the boys, the fans and my family. It looked like this promise had an expiration date, which seemed to have come to pass.
I dragged the silver, lifeless piece of metal along my right wrist. It didn't feel natural. I'm not left handed, so my grip on the thing was strange. As blood poured out of my forearm, I knew that somehow, I was going to have to keep this covered up.
