Chapter 2 - Hero trial

“You’ll now be split into Villain teams and Hero teams and face off in two-two indoor battles!!”
“Here’s the deal! The villains will be hiding a weapon in the hideout. While the heroes have to go in and take care of it!
Your battle partners will be decided by drawing lots!”
Team A – Izuku and Uraraka - Team B – Todoroki and Shouji
Team C – Mineta and Yaoyorozu - Team D – Bakugou and Iida
Team E – Mina and Aoyama - Team F – Sato and Kouji
Team G – Jirou and Denki - Team H – Tokoyami and Tsuyu
Team I – [Y/N] - Team J – Eijirou and Sero
Team K – Tooru and Ojiro - Team L – Rein

“Because of the number, [L/N] and Imari won’t have a partner for their teams.”

Instantly you felt the same stare from this morning, you turned around to see “Rein” (it was easy to see her because the others were in their teams) staring at you but this time she looked away as soon as you made eye contact with her. You started to think that she really did hate you, but you brushed it off and waited for All Might to pick the two teams from the two boxes.
And the first up were…
Team K (H) and L (V)
“G-great…”
“The villain team goes first, the timer starts in five minutes, when the hero team sneaks in.
The rest of us will watch via CCTV!”

And there you are, outside the main building memorizing the building blueprint and trying to stay calm, if you said that you were fine that would be a lie.
‘Let’s hope for the best…’ you thought as you walked towards the building

*Indoor battle training. START*

You walked in the empty corridors, expecting Rein to pop up at any seconds, since its 1 VS 1 but surprusely you were already near the main room, it was too quiet and too easy, or that’s what you thought.
As you were about to go up the stairs your heard a weird mechanic-like noise…as if something was loading up. You looked up and quickly dodged the yellow laser coming into your direction, the laser left a yellow mark from the spot you were to the end of the corridor and afterwards there was an explosion caused by the laser, you looked at the explosion and thought what could’ve happened if you didn’t notice…

“A-are you trying to kill me!?” You asked shocked, Rein decided to come out from one of the pillars, “Target missed…” she paused and scanned you “Good to know that you have decent reflexes.” She said as she shooted plasma bullets in your direction
‘…I don’t have much choice.’ You activated your quirk and made levitate the rocks on the oor (caused by the explosion) and aimed them to your target, she dodged the rocks and went straight to your face, you quickly protected your face with your arms, she was expecting you to do that,
She laughed a bit and moved behind you and posed her palm on your back,
“You shouldn’t let you guard down TARGET LOCKED, CANNON ACTIVATED: TESLA”
You muttered something before she used her attack.

“Art of Mimicry: Doppelganger”

Rein looked at you with confusion but didn't bother ask. Rein’s hand heated up until a bright light invaded the whole roomand followed by another explosion afterwards you quickly moved away and hid somewhere safe whike another copy of yourself was in your place (because of the light Rein didn't notice). Your copy was sent flying upstairs, your copies have a very short time limit (they last around 5 minutes each, if you summon more copies the time becomes shorter. But be careful, this requires a lot of stamina so you cannot abuse it) so you rushed upstairs before your plan fails.

“Imari-joshi this is not a real fight!” All Might said from the CCTV room
“I know,  I know.” she said coldly as she made an high jump to go upstairs, there was a huge cloud of smoke in the room but it dissolved in few minutes, to not mention the hole at the centre of the main room.
When her vision was clear her eyes widened when she saw your copy unconciouss laying at the edge of the hole, near the corridor.

You were hidden behind one of the pillars quietly started to form a good amount of energy spears, it will take a bit of time but you tried to hurry since the copy's time is almost up.

Rein ruffled her hair in frustration "Oh come on! It wasn't that powerful...I think” she whispered the last part. The blunette then walked around the hole and walked to your copy, All Might was about to announce your opponent's victory but stopped when he saw your copy grabbed her ankle and smirked, Rein quickly freed herself and backed from the copy " why the heck are you smirking f-" your copy disappeared, Rein squinted her eyes in confusion but then realized that she has been tricked.

You finally revealed yourself

“5 minutes left!”

"You...!" she looked a bit shocked but returned to her usual expression but more enraged than before, you could hear mechanic noises coming out from her body and you knew she was going to do something again, she ran in your direction ready to attack you. You didn't try to dodge her but you instead waited for her to be in the right spot. Rein huffed and said "You're not dodging? That's perfectly fine it will make things easier" you mentally laughed when she stepped right below the spears you ordered the spears to attack Rein

“GUNGNIR!”

You shouted, making the spears rain down on Rein, she tried protecting herself by creating a shield made of holograms. Now, you’re not the violent type so you only used the spears as distraction so you could use that time to get to the rocket and end this trial.

“10 seconds!”

You could hear Rein saying something, but you didn’t have time to listen to her, you quickly dashed (avoiding the hole on the ground) towards the weapon.

“4 seconds”

‘I’m almost there’, you extended your arm as you were near the object, you stopped as your fingertips made contact with the oversized rocket.

“The hero team WINS!”

All Might shouted, making you remove the ear-piece he gave you before your eardrums would get even more damaged. You felt so tired, you were asking for air and you started getting a headache, meaning that you were near your stamina limit. You caught your breath and looked over Rein, she was on her knees but you could tell she was exhausted just like you. Without hesitating you slowly walked to her and offered her a hand so she could stand up, she stared at your hand then at you.

"Good job, I don't really get what your quirk but it's amazing!" you complimeted her hoping to not upset her, she stood up by herself and looked at you with hands on her hips and said "Imari Rein." you tilted in confusion, with annoyance Rein repeated "The name is R e i n, Imari Rein and my quirk is Cyberpathy, you better remember that, got it?" and with that she stormed out of the room

"Could she be bipolar...?" you said out loud remembering how serious she was before. Your thoughts were interrupted by All Might's voice (from a speaker) “[L/N], it’s time to go back to the main hall” You completely forgot about it, “Y-yes sir!” you picked up your earpiece and rushed back to the others.

....Hi. It's been a while 😅
You know that my english is awful, sorry about that.
I suck at explaining and writing battles is so hard but I watched a lot of battle scenes (from serie tv and anime) but it was better in my head- I hope what I wrote made sense.

So yeah, I made those ugly drawings (Dunno what happend with the legs, it was 3AM when I drew it) Had to write over my handwriting because I realized that it's quite small in the picture. I'll draw Rein reference sheet (or just a portrait) one day when I'll feel like doing it, btw Blue Haired girl now has a name woohoo, she's like an android but she's human and she's also socially awkward and tries to be cool but fails everytime, I'll explain her quirk later.

Reader's hero gear (Left) is quite plain and that's the whole point 👀 flashy costumes does not make you better than other people, it's all about your abilities (and luck sometimes).
