It was just another day at Westfield Central High. Well, at least it should've been. I sat in the back of the room, glaring at the back of Becca Darrin's head. Her friend sneered at me as I flipped her off.
"Freak," Becca muttered when she turned to glance at me. The bell rang and the students slowly made their way to their seats. Josh Strandon, the school's golden boy, strode in moments later, tossing a wink towards our poor Biology teacher, Mrs. Nito. She sighed heavily and began attendence, calling out every one of these poor sucker's names.
"Clara Rockson," she nearly yelled over the chaos called education. I raised my hand. A few snickers rippled through the room. I just rolled my eyes and began to doodle in my notebook. The room got silent.
Frowning, I looked up seeing the girls fixing their hair and smiling flirtily. My gaze followed the class's and my jaw, I'm sorry to admit, dropped. I snapped it back shut and stared intently at the dirty eraser in my hand. The new boy had curly dark hair, intense blue eyes, and a body built like a model. I listened intently as Mrs. Nito introduced Carter Williams to the class. She welcomed him to sit anywhere he wanted, and moments later gasps ran throughout the small room.
"Hey." A deep voice said near me. Of course that Adonis of a boy is talking to Becca. "Oh you don't wanna talk to her, she's a freak. She thinks she's better than us," Becca answered snottily. I looked up through the curtain of my dark hair to see him smiling at me. He answered her, not taking his eyes off me.
"Thanks for the heads up, but I wasn't asking for your opinion."
Her mouth opened in horror. She whipped around, hopefully mortified. I held back a laugh. He held out his hand to me.
"Hey, I'm Carter Williams."
I glanced warily at his outstretched hand then shook it firmly.
"Clara Rockson."
