Verena p.o.v
As I walked up to the counter next to, what I'd guess, Alek's mother. Her eyes are a pretty gray and her light brown hair fell just past her shoulders. I turned my attention to the girl behing the counter, Libby. Libby is a lady in her fourties with brown eyes and chocolate brown hair that curled down past her chin. Her familiarity comforted me and I let out a big smile.
"Hey Libby." I put my bags down.
"Verena, Dear! Are you here for the singing portion of camp, again?" She laughed.
"Yes." I laughed.
"Well, same cabin as always, 'Lady Bug'. And," Libby looked down at her sign in book, looked up, and smiled. "Arie is already here."
"That's great!" I smiled and picked up my bags. "Thank you, Libby."
"Have fun, Verena!" She called after me.
I gave one last look at Alek. He gave me a great big smile and I returned a blank expression. His smile fell. I walked out of the Check-In cabin and walked the long path to Cabin Lady Bug. Once I walked into the cabin I got attacked by my best friend. Arie.
"Whoa there girl." I laughed. "I missed you too."
"You have no idea how many yummy guys there are here. Way more than the past years." She smiled pulling back.
"Arie! Your hair! Its so long." I smiled. Her hair was down to her lower back and it framed her brown eyes perfectly.
"Thanks." She said smoothing her brown curls. "Now, lets go get some pie." She grabbed my arm and yanked me out the door. We ran, laughing, to the cafeteria where everyone else was. We grabbed our cherry pies and sat at our normal table.
"Mind if I sit with you guys?" A voice sounded. I looked up, mouth full. It was that Alek kid. Before I could reply, Arie did.
"Go ahead." She wiggled her eyebrows at me.
He sat down. Right when he was about to talk, a shrill laugh cut through. Zoey.
"Well, well, if it isn't Verena Winters." She sneered.
"Well, well, if it isn't Zoey Summers." I mocked.
Funny, huh? Mortal enemies have different seasons names. In which the seasons are in contrast.
"Don't think you're going to parade around here like a queen bee, Winters." She glared.
"You do realize you give me this chat every year since I first beat you at the Karaoke Finals." I gave her a deadpan look.
"Yes. I do realize it. And each year you look more like a freak." She huffed.
"Same for you. What's new this year? Nose? Lips?" I mocked and leaned forward and gasped, "Both?"
Arie let out a snicker.
"At least my hair doesn't get whiter each year." She snapped, I stopped smiling.
"I think her hair is beautiful." A voice chimed. We all looked over to see Alek. Why is he defending me? We aren't friends.
"Excuse me?" She snorted. "She's a freak."
"The only freak I see is your personality." He looked serious.
Stunned, she turned on her heal and left.
"You just committed Social Suicide." Arie gasped. "I like you! No one but us stand up to her anymore. She's such a snarky witch. She has something shoved up her butt. I've dreamed of smacking all the make up off her face several times. And I'm sure half the girls here have a voodoo doll with pins in it in their underwear drawer." She babbled.
"Thank you, Alek." I smiled.
"Nothing to thank me for." He softly laughed. "Your hair is unique and beautiful." How sweet. If he knew why it was this way, he'd see it as disgusting.
"Well.. thank you anyways." I laughed with him.
Oh man. I think I might just be friends with him after all. I mean, he did just stick up for me to Ms. Queen Bee.
