"Hey mum. We landed safely, and we got the rental car situation sorted. I miss you, and I love you." I say. Without playing back the voicemail for approval, I send it and slide my phone in my back pocket.
We've been at the college for about half an hour now. We were given our keys, and room assignments. Harry and I were both in GrandView Hall, but I was on the third floor, and he was on the second. Louis was in Spencer Hall which was the building diagonal ours.
We were anxious to get to our rooms, but we couldn't go quite yet because we had to get our college identification cards. They give us access to the dining halls and to most buildings. So for the moment, we were dragging around large marroon and beige bins with our luggage inside.
"Harry needs to hurry the hell up." Louis says impatiently, tapping his foot on the tile floor beneath us. Louis and I have been done getting our I.Ds minutes before Harry decided to get in the line and quit flirting with a resident advisor. "Just head over to your dorm. You're in a totally different building, we're going to split anyway." I say. Louis nods.
"You're right." He stands up, and grabs his large bin. "Text me when you guys are all finished up and we can grab a bite or something that college kids do." He chuckles to himself, and heads out the double doors.
"Thank you." I hear Harry say after minutes. I look up and see him walking toward me. I stand up and push his bin right into his gut. He briefly loses his balance. "Took you long enough" I say.
"Sorry about that." He says as we make our way out onto the campus to GrandView hall. "I'm not really sorry, but." He shrugs not bothering to finish his thoughts.
"What do you think your roommate is going to be like?" Harry asks while we wait for the lift.
"I don't know." I say. All I knew was my roommates name from when the list was posted a while back. I was blanking on the name now. All I remember is it started with an N.
The doors to the lift open. A few people make their way out, and Harry and I squeeze in with our bins. I couldn't wait to get my things away and get this bin out of the way. "Hold that!" An ebony colored girl calls out. I jump for the door and hold it. She gets in, slightly out of breath from running down the hall.
"Thank you." She breathes.
"Not a problem at all. What floor?" I ask.
"Second floor."
"I'm on the second floor as well." Harry notes. The girl smiles.
"You know you guys are like the fourth english peopls I've met today. It's like a british invasion or something." She laughed. "And I met two Russians. Transfer students."
"Atleast we're not alone." Harry says.
I gesture to her suitcase. "Just one suitcase?"
"No, I've been moving in for about two hours now. My wardrobe is insane." I laugh. The lift doors open. "Well this is me, maybe I'll see you around. I'm Normani." She holds her hand out, I shake it. "I'm Zayn."
"Interesting name."
"You as well."
"And I'm Harry, and I think it'd make sense that we walk together since we're second floor mates." Harry and Normani continue talking but I hear no more once the doors shut and I am being taken up to the next floor.
I'm finally on the third floor pushing this obnoxious bin down the hall. I stop right in front of my door and fumble with my key, opening the door.
A blonde lad turns to me, startled. "Sorry, didn't mean to give you a scare." I say holding my hands up in surrender.
"No, it's fine. So you're my roommate or an intruder. Either way, I'm Niall, where are you from?"
