Lexi
The escape boat is a lot smaller than I had anticipated. Mum and I jumped in as the men chasing us, finally caught up. The engine started up, jerking us forward before taking off at a steady pace. "What do we do Mum?" I ask frantically. Her focus was set on navigating the boat. "Don't panic darling, we are safe now," she said, emotionless.
"I'm calling aunt Juliet!" I say. Mum turns to stare at me with anger. "No, she's already in enough trouble! She's in hiding." "Robin?" Mum shakes her head. "Apple? Mum, we have to call someone!" I start to feel scared and uncertain. I've never felt like this before.
"You've been on countless missions before Lex, you've killed people! Why are you acting this way?" Mum asks. I can hear the worry in her voice. Honestly, I don't know why I am acting like this. It's very odd. "Maybe it's because this time I have no idea where we are going!" I shout. "This has something to do with Cydney, doesn't it?"
The hurt look on my mum's face says it all. "What is it?" I ask. "What happened to her?" Mum turns her head away in pain. "She got her..." By her, she means Colette, the very woman all our hard work was meant to stop. I try to move towards my mum to comfort her, but my boot is stuck in the broken wood planks. All of a sudden the boat is hit by something, causing us to fly forward. My ankle is twisted out of the place in a painful scrape.
A wave pushes our sinking boat under the water. My bag is tangled around my neck. While trying to untangle myself, I see my sinking mother in the corner of my eye. I try to swim over to her, but the bag around my neck chokes me out. I can't breathe, and everything goes black...
I am floating in greyness. It's not water, not smoke, it's nothingness. "Lexi." The male voice says. I'm in a daze of confusion. My eyes widen in realization. "Dad!"
I wake up to the most beautiful creature on me. Her lips on mine, supplying me with oxygen. Blue and green colours fill my eyes. Mer-creatures of beautiful nature. With light blue shimmering skin, long turquoise tails adorned with fins and scales. Their long white hair flowing in the water, and eyes as blue as the ocean.
In the darkness of the sea, a similar creature swims up. Like a skeleton, their long thin bodies creak with each swim. Claws long and sharp, hair black and matted, scales sharp as a blade, eyes as dark as night. With a horrific wail, they lunge toward me but are blocked by the beautiful creatures.
With a graceful push, I am now at the surface. I'm too weak to swim but make an effort to try. An island in my view, and is a lot cloned than I thought. Once to the shallows, I get out of the freezing water as fast as I can. I collapse on the sand and unzip my full body bodysuit. The water made it stick to me like sweaty thighs on a leather couch.
A few meters away is an odd lump in the sand. I trudge over to it, spitting sand out of my mouth. In the sand, is my bag. I pull it out and dust the sand off of it. I rinse it in the ocean before going through its contents.
I pull out a drenched cell phone, wallet and handgun. The keys to my bike are okay, but my extra outfit is soaked and muddy. My ankle feels like crap, but walking is not that bad. And I don't think heels boots help. I remove my boots and put them in the soaked bag along with all the other items.
I take a strong look at the island. It's obviously not an island for a living. Just above the beach is thick jungle. A twig snaps. I zip up my suit before grabbing the knife, hidden in a pouch on my thigh. "Who's there?" I shout.
A group of boys in brown and green clothing, walk out in unison. They hold spears and bows, all pointed at me. "Welcome to Neverland."
