The Dancer's Edge was the second of the seven swords created, after the birth of Ignazio. Arceus based the sword off of the element of flow, which became the Pokemon Meloetta, given the name Melody, and the sword became known as it is today. It is also the only sword with a Unovan root in the name, so the name was not translated to another when historians from Unova did research on the use of the swords in the distant past.

Unlike Ignazio before her, Melody wasn't one with an ego. Rather, she was a lot more serious and wiser than her fiery counterpart, due to Arceus being rather annoyed at the Entei's hotheadedness. Because of this, she was 'given' the place of leader amongst the other swords once they were created. However, she was noted to get on some people's nerves, due to her slight habit of making fun of people's... quirks.

The first wielder of Dancer's Edge was a man who was the chief of his village, and who is referred to as the leader of the First Wielders, known in the tales as The Chief. After the wielders had fulfilled their purpose, the swords were taken back to their resting places.
