The Ledge

Once again I'm standing here
At the familiar line
I know I'll fall over
The edge is very thin now

Another blow strikes my back
Feet slipping I somehow regain balance
Not much longer I know I'll fall
Once I get here there's no turning back

The death strike is delivered
It hits me hard and I don't try to save myself
Down I go into the familiar darkness
plummeting to my inevitable demise

But then I stop falling
I am blanketed in love and warmth
This has never happened before
Maybe this is death

I am cradled and held
Soft whispers of your voice reach me
"I will save you my love
I will never let you fall again"
