As the vending machine slowly released its iron claw that held the chocolate so tightly Sky drooled at the thought of finally getting something to eat. It was now 13:45 and Sky hadn't eaten or slept in 38 hours 27 minutes and 15 seconds.
16.
17.
18.
19.The seconds were dragging in like a zombie who was crawling on wet grass because they had no legs.
That was how Sky was feeling.
As she snapped quickly back into reality she realised that her greatly anticipated bar of chocolate had-once again- became trapped in the vending machine. Holding the calorie filled bar like it was a hostage.
"DAMN IT!" She shouted angrily.
Sky quickly shook the vending machine in the hopes that it would cause the bar to fall into the part of the mechanism which would allow the buyer- in this case Sky- to retrieve their chosen drink/ snack.
"You ok there?"
Sky didn't recognise this person's face, which is odd because she knew everything about everyone.
"Excuse me, are you ok?" The stranger repeated, he almost seemed concerned.
"Who?! Me?! Oh yeah, yeah... i'm just a bit hangry.." Sky replied as she leaned against the vending machine in a sad and almost pathetic attempt to look "cool".
"Oh, ok then... I'm Jack by the way, Jack Smith" Jack said pushing his slightly curly, brown hair out of his face...
As she reached out her hand to shake his, she replied "Sky, Sky Scott".
Jack accepted the hand shake and then turned his attention to the vending machine, puttin some money in he carefully analysed the selection of drinks and snacks before he chose one. As his cereal bar fell it knocked Sky's chocolate bar and it also fell. Passing the chocolate bar to Sky he slung his school bag over his shoulders, put his headphones on and just before he sauntered off down the hall he simply said:
"Have a nice day Scott, Sky Scott."
16:21 The same day...
Sky is rapidly pacing around her room which is cluttered with empty starbucks cups and chocolate wrappers as she is talking to someone on her phone...
"WHO THE HELL IS HE?!HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO 'PROTECT AND SERVE' IF I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHO THE FUCK SOME NEW GUY IS. I AM SUPPOSED TO KNOW ABOUT THESE THINGS BEFORE THEY HAPPEN. I SHOULD BE THE FIRST FUCKING PERSON TO FIND OUT!" Sky screamed as she shouted at the poor, unfortunate soul who had the misfortune to be at the other end of that phone call when Sky is mad.
"Look Sky, I'm sorry. I swear i didn't know there was supposed to be any new students there, let me see what i can dig up about this new dude for you, what did you say his name was?! Jake Sanders?" The man at the other end of the line had stated.
"No, Jack Smith" Sky had replied with a very evident tone of annoyance and frustration... "Thanks Sam, I'm sorry for shouting at you."
"No problem Sky, what are friends for?!" Sam had replied with a wise and nurturing tone to his voice.
Sam was Sky's mentor when she first started working at the FD8. He taught her everything she knows like: how to infiltrate secret organisations and societies, how to spot a suspious person, how to make a bomb and most importantly... how to blend in.
