It's just an average day. At my average school. I'm just a completely normal 16-year-old girl. God listen to me I'm the opposite of normal, I'm cursed it's the only explanation no normal person can read peoples minds or move things without touching them. Why did it have to be me? I was worrying so much I never even noticed my pen spinning out of control on my desk I quickly slam my hand down hard on the desk, 'THUMP!', oh no that was really loud, I receive a lot of weird looks, I get that a lot it doesn't really bother me anymore,
"She is so weird," a voice sounds in my head, another downfall I have to listen to whatever everyone thinks about me and I can't control it. It's so frustrating but it's not like I can tell anyone no one would believe me, to be honest, I wouldn't believe that some random girl would have psychic abilities, I would sound like a crazy person. Well, it doesn't look like they're going away anytime soon so let's just get on with it and try to make the best of a really unfortunate situation.
The bell sounds and Mr Anderson my registration teacher walks in still in his cycling gear, he doesn't do very much just takes the register (if he remembers), calls out any announcements which there hardly is any, normally it's just about some new club which will never get any new members or some event that will be cancelled for lack of attendance and most of the time he just scrolls through his phone while the class talks he even fell asleep one time, but today was different, he stood at the head of the class in his skintight cycling shorts which I couldn't help laugh at,"Okay class I have a special announcement," he spoke in the same monotone voice as always but my ears still pricked up, special announcements were a rare occasion. The class was soundless for once,
"We have a new student joining us, come on in," he announces stretching his pudgy arm out towards the door, a new student that was definitely a special occasion, I have been here since the beginning and new students never come here because of the schools bad reputation, maybe no other school would take him. My classmates thoughts flood my mind,
"Oo I hope it's a guy, all the guys in this school are ugly," a girl whines, I don't understand why some girls are all about finding a guy I'm not really into guys...well guys aren't really into me and I'm not surprised,
"We need more cute girls, with big boobs," a guy unsurprisingly shouts well that pretty much sums up what the guys in my class are like I glance down at my own chest...completely flat...of course nothing is going well for me.
A boy walks in, all the girls are going mad in their fantasy's, I can tell, he looks like any normal guy with light brown hair with his fringe covering part of his forehead and an over-sized hoodie over his uniform he doesn't look bad just a little scruffy. Not my type...to be truly honest I don't have a type I have never dated anyone before, I guess I'm the only one, oh well I'll buy a cat or something.
"Go ahead introduce yourself," Mr Anderson said squirming uncomfortable in his shorts I hide a giggle behind my hand.
"My name is Evan Adler, nice to meet you," he said he seemed to be staring directly at me, why is he staring at me? Please stop it my face feels like it's on fire. I breathe a sigh of relief when he finally looks away, oh thank god I thought I was going to burst into flames and cause a scene.
"You can go sit at the desk next to the window," he now sounded completely uninterested, I had stopped listening by that point all the thoughts making a mess of my mind had made me dizzy so I decided to look out of the window onto the rolling hills and factory smoke masking the sky. He caught my eye again as he walked passed. He is staring at me again why does he have to sit next to me out of everyone he chooses me, I'm sorry Mr Anderson I won't sleep in your class anymore.I never even noticed him calling out my name, my mind was in shambles.
"Lyra, Lyra...Lyra Sterling!" He yells it gave me such a fright I shot up from my seat,
"Good your awake now" he spoke sarcastically as always, the class burst into laughter I rubbed the back of my head and gritted my teeth they're all laughing at me again well that's just great,
"Sorry" I mumble attempting to sound like I was sorry. I failed.
"Okay, Lyra you'll be showing Evan around," he said mockingly you've got to be kidding me I'm with the new kid seriously he could have picked anyone else but it had to be me. I can feel the envious stares all around me great now I'm the target of girls jealousy...fun.
