As the crowd cheers, the racers get in position for their practice. "Alright people here for your encouragement" said the Announcer. Their heads down, leg spread up and down. Breathing heavy as they await for the start shot. Suddenly a gun shot was fired. Everybody flashed straight through the track.
Time ticks as Jacob turns off the race. "Son, why won't you join the race" said Dad. "I don't deserve it. They can run a mile in like 4 minutes. My life is takes more time to be understood" replied Jacob. Dad shakes head in sarcastic disappointment. "You better get to school"said Dad. Jacob gets up and grabs lunch. He walks out the door as he sees Braydon getting out his house. "Hey Jake! Ready for another day at school?" "Uh... yeah. It's just school you know, nothing new or different" "Well, guess who's coming back from Hawaii!!!" Said Braydon excitedly. "Yeah, Mindy. I miss her. She's like the only friend I have that is a girl" "What? Every girl like loves you. You're like the dream boy. Also don't forget Jenna" "Oh right. She liked me ever since 1st grade. How is she still in love?" Braydon looked at him like he just said something out of the world. They continued to walk to school.
The first step on that concrete stair burned through Jacob. "The chills man" said Jacob. They looked at each other. The buses parked on the busway. Kids ran right out as the bus door opened. Conversations were made. Friendships were introduced. Smiles were on everyone's face. Braydon faced Jacob's face "This is gonna be a long year... a long year..." They sighed and stared at at the crowded hallway.
