I stopped my finger just for a second. I heard something. Something odd. Footsteps. I heard footsteps coming this way. Since when does this household get visitors? This house was considered odd to most people in the neighborhood.
I willed myself to just pull the trigger before they got here. But, I was intrigued now. I was intrigued by what was happening. I couldn't focus on what I was doing. I was too absorbed in straining my ears to see if they would walk away and change their mind.
Ding Dong
Apparently not. The doorbell rang loudly in my ears. I dropped the gun on the couch and walked over to the large, oak door. My hands clutched around the golden door knob and I hesitated. My long fingernails rested on the door knob.
Should I open the door?
What if it's all a joke?
What is Melissa was just doing this to tease me?
Melissa was my ex-best friend. She now tortures me every day I go to school and any time I go out in public. Now she was going to make my life at home miserable?
It can't be her.
She hasn't been to my house in years. I doubt she would even try to remember my address.
Without thinking any further, I swung open the door and was caught slighly off guard.
A boy with brown eyes and blond hair stood before me with his hands dug into his pockets. "My mom was being a pain and made me come meet you so, Hi I'm Cole."
He held his hand out for me to shake and I stood there, staring at him not even letting my frown twitch. I reluctantly lifted my hand for him to shake and he chuckled.
"I don't understand what's so funny." I muttered.
Cole was a little caught off guard by my tone of voice and quickly spoke "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to bother you, I was forced to do this."
As grumpy as I was right then, I couldn't help but understand what he means. I sighed "I'm sorry too, would you like to come inside??" I said, pretending to be super nice.
He smiles at me and said, "I'd love too,"
Damn it. I was being sarcastic. I'm not gonna lke this boy.
