England's PoV:

When I got home from the visiting the Frog, I thought about what France had said about America loving me, and asking her to make sure that she actually wanted to be changed back into a man. I couldn't think of any reasons why she wouldn't, but then I'd never been able to understand anything America ever did. Not since the war, at any rate.

"Bloody frog! What does he know anyway? Of course he wants to change back! No one changes there mind about something like gender in just two days!" I said to myself.

I decided that I could use some more time to relax, since America wasn't back from talking to his states. I wondered how they were doing, since I had helped raise some of them. Were any of them still able to see faeries? Or had they long since lost the ability, like America had? Did they resent me for leaving them alone so much when they were younger?Did they even remember that I was once their big brother?

I shook my head as I began to boil water for tea. Maybe I could ask America about them once all this gender-swapping mess was over with, maybe even go and visit them... If they wanted me to, anyway. I sighed. Why did we fight that bloody war anyway?I treated them as well as I could, I visited as often and for as long as I could, so why did they revolt? France's words from earlier rang through my head.

"Angleterre, you're un imbecile! Amerique only ever wanted to be your equal, and he tried to tell you zhat. Amerique loves you, anyone could see zhat."

Was that the whole reason for the Revolution? For America to become my equal? Or was there more to it? There had to be!

I took the water off the the stove and poured some into a cup for my tea. I had to take my mind off of the subject, I was giving myself a headache. I walked down to the basement, tea in hand and opened the door that was hidden behind a curtain. This was my scecret sanctuary, the only place where I could be alone. Things from various points in history lay scattered in an orderly fashion around the room. There was a small bow and quiver of arrows Scotland had given me when I was a new country, the dress the Frog had forced me into when I was younger, and there were old military uniforms from different wars.

Against the walls were some paintings, but I looked away from those almost immediately. They were of myself and Queen Elisabeth I, my wife. We weren't officially married, but her words that she was married to her country, to me, were true enough. The memories of her were almost as painful as those from the Revolution.

I walked over to a large chest in the corner of the room. The contents of the chest were drawings that America and some of his siblings had drawn, back in their colonial days. I couldn't tell what most of them were supposed to be, but I recognized a few. There was a drawing done by New York of Ari. It wasn't a very good likeness, but it was drawn well enough, considering she'd had the mentality of a six- year- old at the time she'd drawn it. There was one that Georgia had made, I think it was supposed to be of a peach tree orchard, but I wasn't entirely sure.

"Hey! Britain! Where are you?" I heard America call from upstairs. I quickly put the drawings back in the chest and shut it, rushing up the stairs to greet America.

"I'm right here, America. How are the states?" I said, coming up from the basement. She smiled.

"Pretty good, I went hiking with Ari, and then we had a movie marathon. Tex came over at one point, and we started watching an anime called Black Butler. Oh, yeah and Virginia told me to tell ya hi." She said with a shrug. I blinked at that last part.

"Virginia says hi?" I asked. I hadn't been expecting that.

"Yeah, actually most of the original thirteen told me to tell ya hi." She said. "Except New York. She thinks you turned me into a girl on purpose and she told me to punch you in the face."

"That certainly sounds like her." I said, laughing a little. She joined in.

"HAHA! Yeah, she does have quite the temper." She said.

I kept laughing for a little while longer, then sobered a bit. "It's nice to know that some things never change, no matter what has happened, or how much time has passed." America nodded in understanding. She was one of the younger countries, but she'd been in enough wars to know what I'd meant.

"Hey, next time there's a meeting at my place, how about I take you to see some of them? I'm sure they'd like to see you again!" America suggested. Was it possible that she'd known about the feeling of nostalgia I'd had when she came in?

"I'd like that very much, if they're willing to see me." I said. She grinned broadly, and hugged me tightly.

"Of course they'd wanna see ya! Why wouldn't they?" She exclaimed. I shrugged.

"Oh, no reason." I said, not wanting to put a damper on the mood

Ameica's Pov:

When I got back to Iggy's place he was no where to be seen.

"Hey! Britain! Where are you?" I called. I heard him coming up the steps from the basement.

"I'm right here, America. How are the states?" He said, coming up from the basement. I smiled. I told him a bit about how the states were doing, and how I'd hung out with Arkansas and Texas most of the time. I left out the advice Arkansas had given me about England. No need to embarrass myself. He seemed kinda surprised when I mentioned that some of the states asked me to tell him 'hi'. He must miss them more than he lets on.

We made plans for him to see the states the next time there was a meeting at my place and we sat in silence for a moment. I looked at England closely. His malachite eyes were closed, and his bushy eyebrows were creased, like he was debating something with himself. He was sitting at the kitchen table, his chin resting on his hand, elbow propped on the table. He let out a quiet sigh, and looked up at me.

"America, I have to ask you this. Are... What I mean is... Do you... Bloody hell, this is so stupid!" He exclaimed. I raised an eyebrow, or tried to, anyway. I'd never mastered that expression. I probably looked surprised.

"What is it?" I asked. He sighed.

"I went over to the frog's house today, since I wasn't able to concentrate and needed a break anyway." He began, and my heart fell. Was something going on between the two of them? "Anyway, he wanted me to make sure changing back into a man was really what you wanted." He continued and I let out the breath I hadn't known I was holding.

"That's all? You wanted to make sure I wanted to be a guy again?" I laughed. "Being a girl is fun, but I don't think I could stand being one for the rest of my life."

England gave me a crooked half-smile and laughed with me. "Oh, I imagine so." He said. He stood up. "It's getting late. Have you had dinner yet? I  haven't had any yet."

My stomach growled, and I realized that I hadn't eaten since I'd left Arkansas. "Dinner would be great! Need any help?" I asked.

England blinked at me. "You can cook?" He asked, surprised. I shrugged.

"Yeah, a little. Southern states are known for amazing home-styled meals, and I picked up some stuff from them." I explained. He nodded, and smiled at me. My heart fluttered at the sight.

"Of course. Is there anything in particular you want?" He asked. I shrugged.

"I'm cool with anything." I said. "Is there anything you want?"

"Well, I'm in the mood for fish and chips myself. How does that sound?" He asked. I grinned.

"Sounds good, but are we having your version of chips, or mine?" He rolled his eyes. "Just kidding! I know you meant fries!"

"Well then, let's get started." He said.

It didn't take long for the too long for the too of us to make the food, and I even made some biscuits from scratch. We sat down to eat and I couldn't stop myself from thinking anout how nice it would be if this were a date. If only he liked me back...
