Chapter 2 You Might Meet The Man of Your Dreams

Kenzie sat in the lounge area of notes drinking her glass of mint ice tea with tears pooling in her eyes. She had been waiting there for her date for almost two hours and was just too embarrassed to call jasmine to pick her up.

Just as she was about to go to the ladies room to let her eyes rain, she noticed a gorgeous young man, possibly in his mid twenties starring at her. The bold part of her prompted her to speak. "Why are you starring at me?" The guy responded " just trying to figure out why you've been sitting here alone for almost two hours and now you look like you're about to cry. What's wrong beautiful?"

She tried to hide her face " I don't want to talk about it. It's too embarrassing. "

"I won't judge at all. Talk to me." He moved closer to her. Kenzie sighed and began to explain her night. " well my friend jasmine set me up on a blind date with some douche who didn't even show up. So now I'm sitting here looking stupid too embarrassed to even call her to pick me up." Her mystery friend shook his head " damn that's terrible. Well how about this, I'll feed you and get you home myself. I think you deserve at least that much out of this night ."

Kenzie didn't know what to think. " pause , dude I don't even know you. I don't even know your name. Why would I let a total stranger dine me and take me home. You could be the DC snipper for all I know. I mean I don't even know your name." She spit all of it out in one breath " geez breath miss lady ! Listen, I don't mean any harm at all. I just see a beautiful young lady who looks like she's in need of a friend to take care if her. I'm not the DC snipper and don't worry, I'm not looking for anything in return. I'm just trying to be a gentleman and my name is Jeremiah. Cool?"

She relaxed a bit. Thought for a moment then continued "my name is Kenzie "Jeremiah smiled and wiped the tears that had fallen from her eyes. He grabbed her hand and kissed it. "Wonderful miss Kenzie . Lets eat ." They both smiled as Jeremiah motioned for a waiter.

Kenzie and Jeremiah sat in His lavish black Audi SUV sharing a laughs over ice cream and a near empty bottle of Bolinger that Jeremiah had treated her to. After finishing dinner in nearly silence, the two of them hopped in Jeremiah's truck, stopped by a winery for the Bolinger and drove uptown to Georgetown to sit out by the water and share ice cream for desert . It was almost midnight now and they're conversation seemed to have no end.

Kenzie leaned over to Jeremiah to speak, " you have money . How old are you? What do you do?" Jeremiah was hesitant to speak about his career because of the associated lifestyle that usually came with it; however , he decided to discuss it with her anyways.

He sighed. "Heres my story. Well first off, I'm 23. I grew up here in DC , graduated when I was 16 from duke Ellington. Went to Howard and majored in communications. Got my degree from there when I was 20. Made some great connections which was the deciding factor in me moving to New York. Got an internship at Prodigy Records and managed a few artists on the side. Fast forward today, write manage and produce some of the biggest names in the industry under Prodigy Records. "

Kenzie sat with her mouth hanging in shock of what Jeremiah had just told her. "Wait, is this real life? I'm sitting here in the car with a music industry exec eating ice cream and drinking Bolinger ? Wow. Why didn't you tell me from the jump?"

"Cause it doesn't matter. I don't want my career to overshadow my personal life. I love music and thats the only thing that really counts ." Kenzie smiled impressed by Jeremiah's humility. "So you love music huh?"

"Yep. I grew up with my mom who was and still is the music director at my home church and I spent a lot of time with my dad who was a music teacher in DC public schools. It's in my blood"
