~CHAPTER ONE

"Calix, Calix I mean it, Calix stop, CALIX NO!" Clara shot out of her nightmares sweaty and panting. What was happening, she thought to herself. For the past week she had been having these disturbing nightmares of Calix killing anyone and everyone. This has never happened before. Calix would never hurt a fly.

Calix isn't human though. His 'species' doesn't even have a name. He has been attached to Clara since the day she was born. Only Clara can see and hear him. His raggedy brown hair and glowing blue eyes, staring at her, making sure she's safe.

All her life, Clara thought he was her 'guardian angel', but once these nightmares started, she's beginning to reconsider.

Clara shakily turned her head toward her alarm clock. 5:42 it read. How could she fall asleep when Calix's threatening, yet innocent form was floating dreamily beside her nightstand. He seemed fast asleep. She reached for her phone, logging onto Facebook.

"Nothing new," she mumbled, "what should I expect? It's almost six in the morning." Before she knew it, her alarm went off. She had fallen asleep, and no nightmares.

She took a glance a Calix. He was sitting hands in lap at the end of her bed, blue eyes glowing brighter than before.

"Hey, morning," she yawned running her tired eyes.

Calix blinked and nodded. Then stood up and walked to the other side of her yellow bedroom. He sat cross-legged in front of her bookcase, staring wonderingly at all her tattered novels.

Clara shuffled slowly to the bathroom and closed the door. She washed her face and put on some jeans, a black Coldplay concert tee and a red sweatshirt.

When she walked back into her room, she came to find Calix holding a handful of things I'm his arms. Clara edged closer to see what the objects were. She stared in horror as he examined her necklace filled with sharks teeth, her spiked braceletes, her crafting scissors and a rusty knife. When had this stuff been in my room? She thought, even the knife?

Calix glanced up at her. She calmed herself and said "Wha- what are you doing with those things?" He shrugged and set the things on her dresser with a clatter.

"C'mon," Clara pointed to the door, "I got to get to school." Still eyeing the knife as she walked out of the room.

~CHAPTER TWO

"Maria!" Clara waves as she approaches her best friend on the school grounds.

"Hey, Clara!" Skipping towards her, Maria holds out her smartphone, showing the screen to Clara. Clara grasps the smartphone and sneaks a look back at Maria's face. She's obviously worried about something. Clara starts reading the article that's pulled up on the phone. Man Murdered last night on 584 Poppy Road Mitchel Watson was found last night in his house with multiple stab wounds on the chest and back. He was last seen with his friend Clara McGourner, who is now a suspect... Clara's eyes widen as she slowly looks up from the screen to her friend's face.

" Who the hell is Mitchel Watson?" Clara practically shouts as she searched for a Mitchel Watson in her memories. Nothing.  They hear the bell ring and start walking towards their first period. Nobody is staring at her. Maybe they haven't seen the article yet, she thought.

Clara could barely focus that day until she arrived back home. Just as she dropped her backpack on her bed, there was a ring of the doorbell. She peeked out of her door frame as her parents opened the door to two policemen. They were both tall, the one had a very long nose and dazzling green eyes. While the other, who had olive skin, had a rather small nose and deep brown eyes. Oh no, Clara thought, this is about the murder.

Clara had no way of getting out of this, even if she was innocent, they wouldn't believe her. She couldn't stay here. Throwing her books out of her backpack while the police spoke to her parents, she stuffed random clothes, a toothbrush, some underwear, and a blanket. Taking one last look at the police and her parents, she hopped out her first- level window, shutting it behind her. From there, she took of running, not knowing where she would end up.

~CHAPTER THREE

"No no no no no."  Clara's mind was racing with places she could go, people she could trust, what her family will do. She stopped abruptly realizing that Calix wasn't with her. Great, something else to worry about, she thought. The forest she was walking through was leading her somewhere, anywhere.

Clara passed a thick oak tree, and Calix standing right next to it. Again, she stopped walking. How had he gotten there? She was probably 15 miles from home. Had he learned to teleport or something?

Clara stared at Calix, him to her. They said nothing for a moment.

"C'mon," she waved her hand along the 'path' she was walking, "we got to hurry."  Stepping forward out of the shadows, Calix followed by her side. TO BE CONTINUED STILL WORKING ON THIS CHAPTER
