We met in a kind of strange place. It was raining and I was walking home from the bar after a few drinks with the guys. I passed an alley that was about a block away from my place and I saw this short figure in the alley. I realized it was a lady, she looked a bit dazed but also happy. She was all by herself so I wanted to make sure she was okay.
"Hello, Miss? Are you okay?" I asked.
"Huh?..oh, uh, yes I'm fine! Why do you ask?" She answered with a smile.
"You just looked a bit confused. You're also all by yourself out here in the rain and in a dark alley. Just wanted to make sure you didn't get robbed or something!" I replied.
"Oh! No, I'm fine. I've just had a rough night." She reassured.
"I've had those kinda nights before. Here I'll share my umbrella with you, if you'd like?" I took a step closer to her gesturing for her to take a spot under my umbrella.
"Yes, thank you!" She said as she stepped underneath it.
"May I ask, what's your name?" I curiously asked.
"I'm Persephone, and you?" She said as she held her hand out.
"My name's Josh!" I replied shaking her hand. Then we started walking, "So where do you live? I'll walk you home so you won't get drenched from the rain" I looked at her realizing she was already drenched. "Well, I mean less drenched than you are now!" She giggled at that.
"I live at Quinn's Apartment Building! It's about a block away." She replied.
"Wait, really? That's my apartment building, too! I haven't seen you around there before." I said.
"Oh, I'm new. I just moved in a couple days ago!" She replied.
"Well, welcome to the building!" I said raising my arms up in the air excitedly, which caused us both to be hit by rain since the umbrella moved with my wild movements.
"Thanks!" She laughed.
Once we got to the building we walked to our apartments only to find out that she was my neighbor. We laughed at that coincidence and I decided to ask her if she'd like to come in for coffee and to talk some more. She pointed out the fact that it was almost midnight and suggested hot chocolate instead. I agreed and we walked in to my place. After getting in and taking off my jacket I looked over at her to realize she was completely drenched from the rain. I went to my room and found some clothes that didn't fit me anymore.
"Hey, I know these will still be kinda big on you but here take these to change into." I said handing her a short sleeve navy blue shirt and grey sweatpants.
"I'm fine and plus my place is literally on the other side of the wall, I can just go there and change." She chuckled.
"True but then how would I know you'd come back?" I said as she giggled,"Plus, these are too small for me anyway and I've been needing a reason to get rid of them, so take 'em!" I said as I shoved them into her arms.
"Alright, fine, I'll go put them on! Where's the bathroom?" She said defeated.
"First door on the left." As she started to walk away I said,"and don't worry if I want the clothes back I know where you live!" I said in a somewhat dark tone. She rolled her eyes at me as she walked into the bathroom.
After she got changed and came out the hot chocolate was ready. We got our mugs and a pack of cookies that I had bought earlier in the week and sat down on the couch. We talked about pretty much everything from family, friends, and pets to exes, enemies, things we hate and everything in between. She was so incredible. We had so much in common it was like we were specifically made for each other, and that was the night I fell in love with her. Before we realized it was 3am and she decided it was time for her to leave because she had things she had to get done and needed some rest. I walked her to her door where we said our goodbyes and how much fun we had talking to each other. She unlocked her door and before she walked in she got on her tippy toes and kissed my cheek then smiled at me with a look of pure happiness, said her last goodbye and went inside. Oh man was I in love!
