I move my fingers in a gentle hum, matching the steady flow of the train. I'm sitting all alone in a compartment, as the girl no one knows. Its fine, I myself am not too entirely sure who I am either. I turn my gaze to the grassy fields beside the train tracks. Rain falls down the windows, sliding steadily as if whoever controls the weather is upset. I can hear the laughs and jokes of near compartments, but don't really mind. Its peaceful when its just you, ya know? I drift in and out of a dream like state, enjoying the peace and quiet until the compartment door slams open and loud, obnoxious voices fill the once gentle air. I jump and turn to glare at the jerk who interrupted my own time.
"Hullo, sis. Still got that hole in your mouth?" My brother says, earning snickers and curious glances from the three stooges who follow him along. I roll my eyes. Over the summer, my brother dared me to gage my tongue, like muggles did with their ears. He said if I did it, so would he, so I did. After all the blood and scream from my mouth, James decided he was better off without one. That's the story of how I have a hole in my mouth that's the size of a small bead, surrounded by a bright teal ring.
I said, "As would you, if you weren't a wuss." James ears redden slightly, but he's still smiling. The coy bastard.
"Just because your addicted to pain." James retorts, sitting down next to me and pulling a silver hair strand. I roll my eyes and scoff. "Jumped out of a tree once! Once!" James laughs until Sirius chimes in.
"Say, James, who's your new mate?" He says indignantly. I glare at him.
"I've met you at least a dozen times, you git!" I retort, rolling my eyes at him. Remus flicks the back of his head and Peter face palms.
"Oh yeah. How's the new hair color?" He asks, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. I let out a sound of disappointed and annoyed worthy of Professor Mconaggal.
"Same as it was in third year, when I first did it." I hiss, looking back out the window. Remus comes and sits in between me and James.
"Good to see you, Mal." He says quietly, watching as the three idiots break into a games of exploding snap.
"As to you, Remus, as to you." I reply, watching the castle grow closer in the distance. This will be one hell of a year.
