i just called to tell ya that there is a meeting tomorrow and i wont be able to make it

why in the hell not?

well....its sorta complicated but know that i wont be out partying like last time. this time is much more serious but that's not the issue. the meeting is about that new marketing agency i was tellin you about?

oh....well there is this new marketing agency that the company was planning on using. you remember what happened with the last one so we ended up going on a hunt. i already buttered them up. you really just need to sign the contract and that will be it.

you know i hate doing shit like this. that is your job, doffy. i do the work; you make us money. that is how our partnership has always worked, ever since we started the damn company.

i know, i know but this time i really cant help it. i have an urgent matter to take care of. besides.....what are you doing tomorrow?

exactly. this will be a good opportunity for you to meet new people and put yourself out there. how are you susposed to get into a relationship, maybe get married, have some kids, etc, if you stay in the house for the rest of your life? if nothing happens, this will be the last time i ask ya to do something like this for me but i want you to actually try, ok? you dont have to mingle with everyone but im sure there will be someone you like

i cant give you a testament of your taste but i think you will like....someone there. im not telling you about him cause i know that you will judge without even talking to him. super charming, gay cause im good with words and was able to ask without sounding weird, and im pretty sure he is your type. im a good judge of character if i dont say so myself

i looked at the phone like it was gonna fly right out of my hand. i swear if he was an employee, id fire him. he is always ditching work for something else. it was usually a party or something that he was sure he'd be to hangover from to go to work the next day. as such, i was always the one who had to go. usually id be able to talk my way out of it with the usual 'this is your job, not mines' speech but he seemed really perturbed about something. he seemed as if something was rushing him off the phone. i didnt hear anything in the background but that doesnt settle my suspicions. regardless of his situation, i have to go. i said i was gonna go so im gonna go. shit. i cant say im ready for this. im usually prepared for everything i do but this.....this isn't my forte in the least. im a background sorta guy. i do the actual work for the company. i design the products, test em, and things like that. doffy, my partner, does the outside work, if you will. he is in charge of getting the product to the people and making us money. as such, he handles all the traveling, makes the deals, and ultimately makes us money. i make the product and make sure its good and safe; he makes sure that everyone can buy it. its a symbiotic relationship that has worked for the last six years since the company's founding. its been a bumpy ride since we were.....younger when we started but we eventually got our groove, learned at breakneck pace, not to mention the immense amount of luck that got us here,  six years later, we are millionaires. it works.
