days have passed and jimin and rin got a lot more closer.

every morning they'd water their plants together and their neighbors sometimes mistaken them as a cute couple.

jimin thinks she's the strongest person he ever met.

one night he heard her crying while talking on the phone with his on and off boyfriend. jimin didn't want to be the type of person who likes to eavesdrops on other people's business, even though jimin didn't want to, their rooms were just inches apart and it's hard to not hear a word. jimin tried to shut his ears but her voice keeps entering his earlobes.

"Do you even respect my feelings? when you're with her do you think about me?" she shouted furiously to the phone.

every syllables came out with little sobs from her lips, "I know I'm not worthy of your attention, and I know damn well I'm not as perfect as her! but all I ever wanted was to make you happy,"

there's a short pause.

there was muffled reply before, but now, it is dead silence.

what a jerk?! he didn't even try to console her? thought jimin who was getting furious hearing all of this fuss from under his window frame, trying his best hiding from rin so she couldn't see him, well, eavesdropping.

"I'm sorry if I'm not enough." she whispered with her trembling voice.

the 6 words that came out of her mouth, made jimin's heart ached.

she ended the call and walk straight to her bathroom, locking herself in.

various thoughts entered jimin's mind as he worries more and more of what rin will do inside, he panicked as he heard her once soft sobs became more hysterical.

he went closer for her window and heard shuffles of stuff inside, not wanting anything stupid happens, he rushed inside her room, walking above the roof that connected both of her window.

the roof acted as if it was a bridge, connecting both of their rooms.

he went in through the window and knocked straight on the bathroom door,

"rin I know this is not a good time, but please let me in," he pleaded

the sobs stopped instantly, and she unlock the door, stepping outside with her head down.

he sighed in relief knowing that he wasn't too late.

he grabbed hold of her shoulder and lifted her chin up where he's met with her tragically beautiful face.

"You know what?"

"What?" rin asked with her sore voice.

"It's no use being like this, forget him," he said softly, "Do you like ghibli movies?"

her eyes lit up at his question and nodded several times, "Yes! that's my childhood movies, why?"

the right part of jimin's mouth involuntary turned upwards, displaying a soft smirk.

seeing her like this made him want to protect her from all the bad things in life; her prick boyfriend, bees, and even rainy days that would make her sad.

"Come on let's go to my place and watch, shall we?"

gasping, the first thing she asks was, "Do you have my neighbor totoro?!"

he nodded,

"Kiki's delivery service?!"

he nodded twice,

"PONYO????"

he nodded three times and chuckled at the sight of rin being a 5 year old as he extended his left hand for her to held.

they linked their hands together as jimin guided her to the roofs and into his room, and downstairs to the living room.

he told her to wait, and he ran upstairs to grab fluffy blankets and prepare some popcorns.

after the popcorns was ready, he placed the blankets next to rin and the bowl of popcorns on the couch and turn on the dvd, and moments later the theme song of totoro filled up the dimly lit living room.

rin, was just sitting there calmly playing with the loose strings of her oversized pastel pink sweater.

when they were watching, jimin would momentarily glance at her and in the beginning of the movie he caught her mumbling the totoro theme song with a smile wide enough to make her eyes squint a little.

he admires the way she watched these childhood movies like her life depends on them.

when totoro appeared on the tv, the scene where mei fell down on top of totoro's belly, rin spontaneously yanked jimin's hands and kept tugging on his sleeves saying, "JIMIN LOOK! LOOK! LOOK!! LOOK HOW HUGE HIS STOMACH IS!"

how can one look so precious? he thought to himself.

when totoro ended, they switched the tv to kiki's delivery service.

in the middle of the movie, rin said,

"Jimin?"

"Hmm?" he hums as a response,

"You know peter pan right?"

he looked at her and nodded, why?

"I think, at this point, I'm tinker bell."

"That's a bit random," he softly smiled,

"Yeah," she mumbled, "I'm always there for him like tinker bell and peter pan, yet he still chooses wendy over me."

jimin's soft smile turned into a concerned look. he reached for her palms and hold it as they sat cross legged facing toward each other.

"Then I'll be the lost boy who's going to be there for you no matter what," he said with a wide cheesy grin, "Screw peter pan."

"Oh my god you are such a cliche neighbor," rin laughed as he tossed her head back.

"Hey, you're the one who stated the statement, you're the cliche one!"

"Touché."

a pause.

"Jimin, I'm sorry." she said, "I'm sorry you have to see me crying."

"No, don't be sorry." he said sternly enough, "I mean it when I said I'll be there for you."

"Don't make a promise that you're going to brake, jimin."

"I'm not going to brake my promise."

she weakly smiled and rested her head on jimin's shoulder and drifted into deep slumber. jimin was still holding her hand and her sweater sleeves was covering her wrist. he rolled up her sleeves,

and he realized,

he was too late.
