The energy pouring out of the cheerful carrot top was down right infuriating.
Kageyama grinds his teeth at the short middle blocker, a tick mark popping out of his forehead. Hinata has been going on and on about the practice game against Nekoma, even though it's been over two months since Karasuno played them. Normally, that would be perfectly acceptable, considering Kageyama also experienced his fair share of excitement during the game.
But tonight was different.
The walk home from practice has been an agonizingly long one for one reason, and one reason only...
Kenma Kozume.
He is all Hinata has been talking about, not just tonight, but for the passed couple of weeks.
"Kenma is so cool!"
"Kenma is such a great setter!"
"Kenma plays like WHOOSH and goes like BAM and I'm like WAAHHH!"
Kageyama is on his last leg of patience, and not only is he annoyed with the bubbly middle blocker next to him, but also because he has no idea where this feeling of rage is bubbling up from, or what the cause of it is. Kageyama doesn't particularly care about when his other teammates compliment other setters, especially if said compliments are warranted. But whenever Hinata gets so excited about Kenma, that's when Kageyama begins to lose any ounce of composure he may have.
"I bet having Kenma as a setter would be great! He wouldn't yell at me and tell me how much I suck like you do," Hinata jabbed at the seething setter walking next to him.
The tick mark on Kageyama's head grew once more as that last leg of patience finally snapped under the weight of Hinata's words. Kageyama grabs Hinata by the collar of his uniform and pulls him up to eye-level.
"WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY HINATA, YOU DUMBASS!"
"HEY, PUT ME DOWN YOU STUPID KING!"
The boys proceed to struggle against one another, Hinata trying to pull away from Kageyama, as Kageyama attempts to keep hold of Hinata and punch him at the same time. However, the sidewalk they are fighting on soon becomes occupied with a third and fourth party, neither of which known to the bickering boys.
"Hey punks, go fight in an alley or somethin'," one of them exclaims.
"Yeah, we're tryin' to walk here," says the other.
And as the two pass the volleyball players, Hinata feels a hand press into his shoulder blades, the impact of which causing both he and Kageyama to be caught by gravity and plummet to the cement sidewalk. As Kageyama feels the hard concrete connect with his back, he feels something else connect against his lips. Kageyama opens his eyes to see Hinata's familiar face unusually close to his own. Not to mention the shorter boy's cheeks have bloomed into a rosy shade of red.
Eventually, Kageyama puts two and two together, realizing what is taking place. Hinata's lips are what Kageyama felt against his own.
The middle blocker had fallen on top of the setter, landing in between his knees.
The middle blocker's hands on the sidewalk, caging in the setter's head.
The setter clutching the front of the middle blocker's shirt as if life itself depended on it.
Kageyama and Hinata are kissing.
~~~~The Next Day~~~~
Kageyama struggled to sleep the previous night as the events of the walk home kept playing in his mind over and over again. After coming to the realization of what was taking place, it took both of them just a little too long to pull away to be able to deem it as much of an accident. However, both Kageyama and Hinata quickly blamed each other for their little...mishap...and immediately parted ways, walking home alone.
