After a long day of watching YouTube videos by Dan and Phil and music videos from RWBY, Crystal Rose sets aside her paper thin Windows laptop. she plops herself backwards on her queen size bed draped in Batman sheets and a top comforter with Black Veil Brides' Andy Biersack giving her back a wink and blowing her a kiss.

Crystal loves that blanket. The black, grey, and white color tone of the blanket goes wonderfully with her deep crimson walls and silver threaded carpet. Every since crystal was young (a few years ago) , she had come across Black Veil Brides music. Being new, nobody she knew even had heard of them. It was love at first note. She now has been attending as many concerts even just featuring them with as many as her Army friends as she can. Most of her room is either batman or Black Veil Brides (save for some-several miscellaneous band merch from Panic!at the Disco, RWBY, and Hawthorne Heights and other bands or things she is obsessed with).

The girl with dyed hair sighs. All she wants to do right now is sleep. She lazily turns to look at her clock. 7 p.m.. Damn, she had forgotten to eat. She slowly gets up, imitating an undead as if she were a vampire from an old 30's movie. She meets face to face with one of her many posters plastered to her crimson walls. This one a Black Parade album cover from My Chemical Romance. She stretches her arms and swings her black covered left leg. Her Cheshire cat sock presses up against her thick silver carpet. Crystal soon adds her checkered blue and black covered right leg and her other matching Cheshire cat sock joins, also pressing against the thick silver carpet.

Crystal wiggles her toes, making the Cheshire cats' faces distort in an oddly humorous way. She smiles. The Cheshire cat was her favorite character in the Alice in Wonderland stories, well, besides the infamous Dark Alice, but sadly, she doesnt exactly count. Crystal stands up at stretches again. She crosses the few feet of carpet to her black painted door with a diamond shaped handle on it. She opens her door and leaves her lovable room, shutting the door behind her.

As she walks down the diamond patterned light gray and white stairs that lead to the kitchen, Crystal thinks of what to make herself for dinner. Hmm.. Ham sounds good. Maybe she will slice up some leftover ham and make a sandwich out of it. Yeah, she'll do that.

Crystal walks into the black and white tiled kitchen floor and goes straight to the double doored black  refrigerator. She takes out what she needs, juggling the items in her arms and placing them on the island counter which separated the kitchen tiles and the living room carpet-which matched the carpet on the stairs). The items spilled all over, some rolling here, others flying over there... She chased the runaway things down and got them back up right on the counter. Ugh... why does this always happen to me? It's too late for this.. she thought as she placed the items upright on the counter. Crystal then made her sandwich, toasting the ham on the skillet in order to do so.

Once the perfectly toasted golden sandwich was finished, Crystal cleans up her mess until it was spotless- just how it was before she decided to make a sandwich. After she cleans up, she sat down at one of the bar stools that were placed by the island and ate her sandwich with a cup of orange soda. Just as crystal took her first delicious bite of her consummate food, a little boy with soft medium brown hair- that had sunned highlights appeared suddenly on the other side of the kitchen island. His clear blue eyes barely could see over the counter top.

"I thought you were asleep, sissy.." He says in his little 9 year old voice. His slightly shaggy, spontaneously blonde streaked hair was messy, as if he had just got out of bed.

Crystal put her sandwich on her plate and looks at her brother. He probably didn't brush it at all today. Since it's June and school is out. Crystal thinks to herself before smiling at her baby brother and ruffling his hair. "Shouldn't you be in your room, playing with one of your games or something by now, Jake? It is close to your bedtime hun, so you should take this time you have left to have some last minute fun." Crystal says and smiles at him gently. The little brother moves to the side of the island so he was closer to his sister. He yawns a bit and rubs his eyes sleepily as Crystal spoke.

Jake thought about what to say to his 16 year old sister, so she took some time to look at him closely like she should as his big sister. He had a matching set of childish guitar Hero pajamas. The top was a sleeveless muscle shirt type thing that consisted of a white base, black edges, various sizes of the Guitar Hero logo on it and patterns to look as if someone had stuck band logo looking stickers on his pajamas. He also had on his favorite blue pair of adidas crew socks with it.

Crystal looks up at his clear blue eyes, which were pointing at the ground as he thought about how to tell her whatever he needed to get out. Slowly, the little boy looked up at Crystal's own two emerald green eyes. As soon as their eyes met, a tear flows over the child's bottom eyelid  and Crystal got up and crossed the bit of space between them, her thumb rubbing away the tear on his left cheek. "Oh, honey, no, no . don't cry. Don't cry baby boy." She hugs him to her chest as a mother would to her precious child, kissing the top of his head. "I'm here for you, Jake, don't cry. I'm here now." He sobs softly and presses his head against her chest as he put his arms around her waist.

"I-It's... it's happening a-" Jake sobs a bit louder in Crystal's chest before whispering "again.." He bursts into hysterical tears and sobs that rocked his body into Crystal, who rubs his back and slowly slides to her knees before Jake's legs weaken even more than they already were. Crystal cradles him against her chest, her own back against the island as she makes sure he was comfortable.

"Oh, baby boy... it'll be okay... it'll be fine... just like always.. they will make up... you won't get hurt... shh..." She comforts to him softly. Crystal hates when this happens.  Their parents (mostly their father) like to drink after work and about two or so times a week, they start to fight and argue. Crystal has been hearing them fight and such since way before Jake was even thought of. She hadn't known it wasn't normal to live like that until she had spent the night at her friend Katherine's house for a sleepover. Crystal had just lived like that. She just took it. But Jake on the other hand, he is too sensitive for the life that they have. Crystal wishes that she could somehow fix it, but nothing she has ever tried over the years has even slightly or almost worked. The worse thing is, Jake's room is right beside their parents' room.

Crystal kisses Jake's head and whispers soothing words to him. The little sibling slowly calms down. Soon he falls asleep in Crystal's lap. She hadn't noticed right away, but when she does, she smiles and gently picks him up. The elder sister carries her brother to his room, which was located beside the staircase. The yells of their parents could be heard, along with sounds of objects being thrown at each other. Crystal was glad that her brother was asleep and he could not hear what she heard.

Crystal lies Jake in his bed, pulling his ruffled Mario themed covers over him. She kisses his forehead, bidding him goodnight. She smiles at his matching pillow under her brother's head. She looks around her brother's messy room. Toys littered the green carpeted floor, there was a 56" against the wall right across from his bed on his black dresser most likely filled with unfolded clothing. His toy box was to the right of Jake's twin sized bed, in the corner. Crystal turn on the black lamp on the blue painted end table by Jake's bed to the left off before she walks out, shutting the white wooden door behind her quietly, ignoring the yelling that has yet to stop.

Crystal sighs, running a hand through her twilight purple with midnight blue streaked hair. As long as I can keep my brother safe... she thinks before heading to the kitchen and went to finishes her sandwich. She thought it tasted bitter for some reason, despite the fact that it was just a ham sandwich. Maybe it's just my appetite just reacting to the stress right now. Oh well. She shrugs off the taste. She rinses her plate and put it in the dishwasher after she finishes her sandwich before heading to her room. She suddenly felt drained of energy. So much so, that she just stumbles into her room, not bothering to turn the lights on. She just flops on her bed, managing to snuggle into her covers, and falls asleep curled up soundlessly.
