Recap-
"Jack." I whispered, he looked over at me.

The two guards were focused on the confrontation of the hoard, Jack knew what I was getting at. I made eye contact again with all three of them, letting them know that we needed to do this fast.

One slip up, and it'd be our lives being taken.

The group started opening fire on the hoard, the shots echoed for miles. They were completely occupied.

Jack nodded at me, shot up to his feet, as did I.
Jack snapped the first guards neck, the sound was sickening. Like the sound of a bat breaking on the impact of an incoming fastball. I ran to the second guard, he had turned around at the sight of his partners neck being destroyed, I tackled him, knocking his gun loose. Jack picked up the gun from the first guard, an assault rifle, and fired several shots into the first and seconds guards' skulls.

"Bella, kids, get up and run! Now!" Jack yelled knowing the shots would draw the attention of the rest of the group. I picked up the second guards pistol, where Jack and I protected the others by opening fire on the group, who had started following us.

Bullets were zooming over our heads, close enough to hear the zip of the velocity of the bullets, getting ready to take our lives on impact.

"Jack we have to go! We're outnumbered!" I yelled.

Jack started to run backward, rapidly firing at the group.

"Ahhh! Fuck you!"

We both turned and ran to catch up with Bella and the kids, hoping that our momentum wouldn't be stopped by a small ball of steel.

Bella and the kids were a ways ahead of Jack and I. We ran for what seemed like miles, our bodies were at risk with every step.

The giant hoard that bought us a distraction found its way around to cut us off, Jack and I were sandwiched in between the hoard of walkers, and the hoard of psychos.

"Go." Jack said.
"What?"
"Go. I have a plan but you have to go. Protect my boy, Carter." Jack ran to the right side, and eventually disappeared from sight.

I had to move. I ran the opposite way, the gunfire was now hitting the walkers direction instead of mine, I could run far enough this way, then move back towards Bella and the kids.

In the mix of all the gunfire, I had managed to look back at all of the mess. To find that there was no more mess.

I lost them.

The world grew silent, the eruptions of gunshots stopped abruptly, and the groans faded out of hearing distance. The silence held my attention captive, there was a gut feeling I had that something was wrong, though I knew I couldn't lose focus. I continued on in the direction of Bella and the kids. It was dark now, no tracks to follow, no landmarks to recognize, just hope.

Once again, I began to think about the silence that I had left behind. Why had it fallen over the forest so abruptly? Why hadn't Jack given me a signal that he was alright? Why hadn't I heard any walkers groaning in the distance?

Why did I feel so alone?

My thoughts were interrupted, the groans arrived, and they were louder than I ever could have expected.

I felt a force hit me so hard that my breath escaped my body on impact, falling to the ground with nothing to cushion my fall. I struggled to fight the thing off,

"Shhh. Stay quiet."

It was Jack, and as he spoke, he lifted his eyes in the direction of the hoard roaming by. Charlie and his men didn't even make a dent in that group, and they seemed louder than before. I looked back up at Jack, he was covered in blood, breathing heavily, and wincing in pain. I sat up in curiosity,
