"Mom! I'm home!" Soon hee yells as she enters their house.
She makes her way to their living room and spots her parents sitting on the floor along with other people. She noticed that her mom's eyes were swollen and her father couldn't dare to look straight into her eyes. She turns her attention to the stranger who seemed well off. She bows to show respect.
The woman dressed in fancy clothing along with pearls and diamonds, makes her way to Soon hee.
"Hello. I'm Park Min Jee, I'm your mother's... friend" she says as she stuck her hand out. She stared at it long enough for her to give up. "Well I'm guessing your mother hasn't told you yet"
"Yeah she hasn't... Whats going on?" Soon hee looks at her parents and back to Min Jee.
"You'll have to come with me" Min Jee says.
"I-I dont... I dont understand. Mom?... Dad?..." she softly asks but none of them dared to explain. Her mother stood up only to grab the bags full of Soon hee's things.
"Go" her mother says still not making eye contact.
"Don't I deserve an explanation" Soon hee's words became bitter. "A simple 'We don't want you anymore' would be fine really" she laughs bitterly.
Full of anger, Soon hee grabs her bag and walked out not bothering to say goodbye. She knew she would regret it but she just couldn't accept the fact the she wasn't good enough to be given an explanation.
She gets in the car not bothering to look back.
"Here" Min Jee says as she gives her a tissue. She didn't even relaize she was crying.
"Cou-Could you tell me what going to happen to me..." She said in between sobs.
"Because of your mother's inability to pay her debt in the certain time we agreed, and by law we all know that they must give up their child as a way of payment. So you're going to marry my son. Park Jin Young" Min Jee says. "He's a bit hard headed but I assure you that I will help you. I'm your mothers friend." She pauses for a while "You don't happen to have a boyfriend right?"
She gulped thinking of the right answer. I might as well tell her the truth she thought to her self. "I.. I do actually"
"So does my son" she sighs. Soon hee gave her a confused look. Min Jee chuckles "I know it's weird that I'm asking you to marry him when he has a girlfriend, but I don't want that girl for my son"
"But you dont even know me" Soon hee questions.
"But I know you're mother and that's more than enough for me. She a great servant. I know how much she cared for you, she tried her best" she pats Soon hee's shoulder reassuring her.
