Lady Hannah Winston stood admiring her reflection on the mirror. Being five and twenty years old, her figure is to be envied for. Having been pregnant and misscarried five years ago, it leaves her body with plumpness on her bosom and hips, while retaining her flat belly.
She turned away from the mirror to start putting on her dress for today. Alway chose to dress simply and demurely, buttoned up to the neck, it still failed to hide her lucious body, her big and firm breast, and her small waist.
She knew she was not beautiful, her mouse-coloured hair rarely attract admiring gentlemen, but she did not care. Content to live the rest of her life as a spinster, she was spared from the season of husband-hunting activities. By dressing the way she did, she could avoid any scandal or the pressure of the competition from other girls and their ambitious mamas.
She was not exactly a spinster, as she was married before, to a commoner, a blacksmith. They had fallen in love when she had been only nineteen and decided to elope to the farthest part of the country. There they had been happy, her husband Tobias had resumed his work as a blacksmith, she had been happy to cook and wash for him in their small cottage. Only Hannah's brother, George Winston who had been informed of their whereabouts.
Then she had been with child. The couples had debated for some time whether her father should be notified about her pregnancy. Tobias had been adamant that the baby need to know his mother's family.
The decision, which she deeply regretted, had been made. They had travelled in Tobias's old and rickety gig to Hannah's family home. She had been five months pregnant.
They had been travelling only a few hours from their village, suddenly a stag ran across the road, terrifying the horse. Their gig had been turned upside down, throwing both Hannah and her husband. Tobias's head had crashed rock and he was killed instantly.
The severely shocked and injured Hannah was taken back to their cottage, where she fought for her and her baby's lives for 3 days. In the end, she had managed to recover but lost the baby and her ability to have anymore children.
While convalescing, Hannah resolved to stay secluded and unmarried for the rest of her live. That had changed when suddenly her brother arrived at her doorstep with the news of their father's death and request for Hannah to come home.
