Raindrops hit the asphalt and formed unwanted swimming pools for the birds daring to leave their safe shelter. The strong wind raged over the city, causing trees to sway back and forth. Kayden watched the scene, sitting in a comfortable chair by the window. He saw how everything became darker and darker as the night came closer. His tired, blue eyes were focussed on the street, but he noticed it seemed like there were teardrops on the window. The music he was listening to made him feel like he was in a music video.
"Kayden! Kayden!" his twin brother Noah screamed. Kayden's daydream drifed away. He took off his headphones and sighed, he prefered not to be disturbed while listening to music. "I'm coming," he muttered, putting his headphones on again. "No, I'm serious! I've got a friend, Kayden!"
For any other person on Earh, this would have sounded peculiar, but Kayden knew it was important for Noah. He quickly made his way to the bedroom they shared, almost tripping over all the mess they had dumped there. "Well, now I am curious!" he laughed, and he closed the door behind him. Noah fold his legs underneath him to create space for Kayden on his bed. "Look," he said, pointing at the computer screen in front of them. "This girl here started a conversation with me."
Social media, I thought. The perfect place to make some new friends. But he knew he could not judge his brother for this. He would have done the same if he was bullied his whole life.
"... likes the same books as I do," Noah said.
"Oh yeah, cool." Kayden guessed Noah had said positive things about the girl.
"Noah! Kayden! Time to go to bed!" That was their mother. She told them to go to bed every night, but that seemed to be the only thing she cared about.
"I've got to go, I'm sorry." Kayden raised his eyebrows, but then realized Noah was reading out loud while typing. "Oh my - she texted a "x"! That's a kiss, isn't it?" Noah jumped up and down in excitement.
"Good night," Kayden said.
"Good night Kayden."
