“Well, Dwight’s out, he got caught by cops” Pixie explained as she sat across from Braga while Brian and Dom were beside her. “But at least Brian can take his place considering as our extra”.
“Is your car gonna be ready?” Braga smiled. “I saw that nasty knock you got”.
“It’ll be ready, don’t worry” Brian replied.
“I have a favour to ask of you two” Braga changed topic. “Besides Phoenix, Pixie is our best driver; I heard youse were close to her so I want you to watch out for her”.
“I’m not a kid anymore” Pixie grumbled. “I can look after myself”. She got up and began dancing.
“She doesn’t like people offering help, does she?” Braga smirked. “She has a troublesome past”.
“Yeah… that’s my fault, she’s my sister, you see” Brian laughed dryly. “She was put into foster care after our mum was in hospital and our dad wasn’t the best either being a drunk and a cop… so Emily ran away”.
“What happened then?” Braga leaned forward somewhat interested now. “What’s with the name change?”
“I took her in when she was just six and she called herself Pixie because of her abilities” Dom continued. “Then five years ago, this idiot comes into town and then two days later her old man shows up with him and she spent three years in Juvi because of him and her dad”.
“You sold your own sister out” Braga choked. “Why would you do that?”
“She belonged with our dad, she didn’t need this life” Brian replied. “That was until I realized what he had done and what she had; she had a family who was there for her unlike ours; Dom took her in as if she was his sister and his crew treated her like she was more than just a friend too she was a sister to them all”.
“That is something to regret” Braga nodded. “But hey; you know she is safe now”.
“That’s the thing with family” Dom interjected. “You’re always looking out for them even if they don’t want you to”.
“I like you two” Braga laughed. “If you will excuse me I have some business to attend to but enjoy the party, boys”.
“I hate this man” Brian groaned. “I’ve tried telling her but the words just don’t wanna come out”.
“You should’ve left when she put that gun to your head” Dom replied. “She hardly trusts anyone at the moment because the fear of letting someone in scares her”.
“She seems happy now” Brian smiled slightly looking at his sister dancing. “After everything that I’ve done and after everything she’s been through”.
“Make it up to her” Dom amended. “She’ll trust you again if you show her that she can trust you and this is an open window”.
Brian sighed and got up weaving his way through the dancing crowd until he grabbed Pixie’s hand and twirled her in a circle.
“You’ve got some nerves, O’Connor” she smirked as she held her hands above her head and bobbing to the beat.
“So do you with driving for Braga” Brian replied putting his hands on her waist. “Cops could come in this moment and arrest everyone single one of you”.
“Yeah… but they’ll have to catch me first but you would know all about that” Pixie snapped putting her hands on his shoulders as they swayed.
“I’m trying to show you that you can trust me” Brian sighed. “Can’t you give me a second chance?”
“You had tons of chances when I was waiting for you to pick up your fucking phone or send a little email or a letter telling me where you were and how you were doing so mum wouldn’t have to worry”.
“Speaking of mum how is she?” Brian asked as she moved to the bar.
“She’s been buried under ground for the past two years” Pixie sniffed. “Your bosses would’ve told you that but they didn’t because they knew if you knew you would try and help me instead of take down Braga”.
She grabbed her beer and stalked off towards the exit with the bottle to her lips. Brian froze at the words she spoke. Dom was behind him and snapped him out of daze “Follow her before she hurts herself”.
Brian walked towards the exit as if he was a robot follow his master’s orders and ran after his sister. Pixie leaned against the wall of a nearby alley letting the tears.
“Emily… I’m sorry” Brian whispered taking her into his arms.
“Don’t call me Emily” Pixie cried. “That name is but a bad memory I try and forget”.
“Everything will be alright” he replied as she tightened her arms around his shoulders. “You can trust me”.
“It’s not that easy” Pixie sniffed. “You’re making this harder for me to let you go, I want the bad memories to go away and you leaving every time I see you makes it harder”.
“I won’t leave” Brian promised. “I won’t leave you again, never again”.
“You better not” Pixie laughed tearfully wiping away the tears. “Or you might not live to see another day”.
“Come on Dom’s waiting for us” Brian sighed. “Do you wanna show him that you can trust me again or are you just gonna run again?”
“We’ll show him” she replied. He took her hand and they walked back into the club and made their way towards Dom who smiled “Are you just you’re not gonna put a gun to his head again?”
“Nah, I won’t do that” Pixie smirked laying her had against Brian’s shoulder. “Only if he keeps his word he won’t sell us out after we do this job”.
