Chapter 2
Fionna
"Girl you stink!"Cake exclaimed in her usual sassy tone. I groaned but still sniffed my shirt when she wasn't looking. I shrugged it off.
"It's not that bad"I mumbled defensively.
"Hun, I'm a cat and I've taken more baths than you this week. And besides, Prince Gumball's not gonna like someone who smells like a pile of dirty laundry is he?"She asked.
"Shut up. I don't like him like that." 'Anymore' I added in my head. "Fine, I'll go for a bath but not because I want to!"I shouted going up to our small bathroom. Everything was white in our tiny bathroom. All that was in the was a bath, a shower, a faucet and a cabinet. I started to run a streaming hot bath for myself and gathered two towels (one for my body and one for my hair), slipped off my clothes and stepped into the bath. I enjoyed the burning sensation that ran all over my skin. I started to wash my hair.
After I got out of the bath and got dressed, I walked down to Cake, who was in the kitchen. "Fionna, don't forget that friend of yours is coming to fetch you in half an hour."She mumbled blankly.
"Huh. Oh glob I forgot! I'm going to go and dry my hair 'kay?"I yelled already upstairs. I had totally fogotten that I my first guitar lesson with Marshall today. Cake wasn't happy with me and him hanging out at all but there was nothing she could do and she knew that. I grabbed my blow dryer and turned it on full blast.
When my blond locks were finally dry, I pulled on my bunny ears just as there was a knock at the door. I rushed down to the door and opened it with a smile. Of course it was Marshall with his umbrella. "Hey Fi"Marshall greeted. I was stuck with that nickname and I have to admit, it wasn't the most creative name, especially for him.
"Hey Marshall"I said.
"Do you have your guitar?"He asked eying my empty hands.
"I'll go and get it. Do you wanna come in?"I asked knowing full well what his answer would be.
"Yep"He floated inside and followed me up to the the bedroom Cake and I shared. I walked up to the guitar that lay on the dresser untouched. I hovered over it.
"Come on then."Marshall exclaimed picking it up one handed and grabbing my wrist with his other hand. He pulled me downstairs and out of the door before I could yell goodbye to Cake. He was a bit too eager. We went in the direction of his cave.
"I thought you played bass?"I questioned him.
"I do"I was confused.
"How do you know how to play the guitar then?"
"I had a guitar at first and then my mother gave me an axe. I thought I'd have a little fun and I turned it into a bass. My mom went through the roof she was so angry."He smirked.
"Where did you find it?"I asked.
"What this old thing? It used to be mine before I got my bass."I decided to change the subject.
"How long have you been in Aaa?"
"Not long. About a hundred years or so I think"
"Not long!"He chuckled.
"Time appears a lot quicker when your a thousand years old."He had a point. I shrugged my shoulders.
"Fair enough"
We carried on walking until we came to the cave. We stepped (floated) inside and went in the direction of his house. As we got in, he went right over to his couch and floated above it, patting the seat next to him.
"No way dude. Your couch is as hard as a rock, oh wait. It's even harder."I replied sarcasticly. A frown appeared on his facial features.
"Wait a sec"He floated up stairs and came back down a few seconds later with a black leather office chair and set it down near the couch so I was sitting opposite him.
He showed me how to do everything in order to set up and then tried to show me how to play the most basic tune he new though I was hopeless and kept messing up.
"Don't worry so much Fi. You'll get it soon enough"I don't know why but as soon as he said that, I felt heat spread across my face as I tried to tilt my head downwards and try to cover my face with my bangs. This just made him chuckle.
"Oh glob look how dark it is!"I shouted when I looked out of the window.
"Duh Fionna. We are in a cave you know?"He replied, his voice thick with sarcasm although he did look out of the window when I said it.
"Oh crud it's nearly midnight."He said looking at the time. I'll fly you home."He muttered grabbing my guitar and hanging it over his shoulder. He picked me up bridal style and flew out incredibly fast. I don't remember actually arriving home but I woke up in my own bed the next morning.
I tiptoed downstairs what I thought was silently but obviously not.
"FIONNA!"Cake boomed so loud it made the whole house shake. I walked into the kitchen, my head hung.
"What do you have to say for yourself?"Cake asked, arms crossed.
"I am so sorry Cake. We just lost track of time."
"I forgive you honey."She softened up, wrapping her slim, furry arms around me and hugged me close.
"Good I don't like it when you're mad at me"I admitted sheepishly, probably as red as a tomato. she chuckled and pulled me closer. I yawned, trying to cover my open mouth with my hand.
"Here how about I make you some bacon pancakes for breakfast?"I nodded.
