Chapter 1

Bad Luck

"Yes,mom I know I am supposed to feed the cat,"I said, rolling my eyes .

"Well, you've forgotten before," mom said, getting annoyed.

"Oh, and don't forget Summer ha- ," mom said, getting annoyed while I cut her off.

"I know, I know, Summer has basketball practice tomorrow at three and a game at five the day after." Mom paused and they just looked at each other for a moment. My mom was clearly getting frustrated.

"Bye," mom said, frowning. As soon as her car left the driveway I called my friends.

"No, I can't, my parents are out of town for a week and I have to watch my sister for the whole week. I gotta go, my sister's dangerously close to getting grounded!" Winter yelled, getting louder. As soon as she hung up Summer acted like she was just standing there doing nothing and thought to herself, I hope she didn't see me.

Then Summer came in the room and asked, "Hey Winter, will you make m-"

"No," I said,interrupting Summer and hitting her.

"OW!! What did you hit me for?!"Summer yelled.

" I saw you tugging on the cat's ta-" but before I could finish, the front door burst open.

"FBI, PUT YOUR HANDS UP!" I just froze, wondering what was going on and what to do.

"What's going on?" Summer asked, trying not to cry.

"You two Winter and Summer Kay?" one of the agents said.

The girls didn't know what to say.

"Yeah," both girls said simultaneously.

" Your dad's been arrested for robbery, murder and Grand Theft Auto. We need to search the premises immediately." The cop said. The two sisters just stared blankly and exchanged looks.

"Our dad would never do anything like that!" Summer yelled with a frown.

The FBI searched the house for hours and confiscated a few things as evidence. After they left, Winter immediately called Summer's basketball camp to tell them she was not going to be there.

The next day Winter and Summer drove to the police station to see their dad.

"OH, GIRLS! You have to help me, I'm innocent. I was framed!"he pleaded.

"We know and we're going to help you find out who did this." Winter said, sweat running down her face from all the pressure on her as she

sped down the highway a few minutes ago in a rush to see her dad.

" No, your not going to do anything. This isn't your fight. Both of you are going home. Especially you, Summer. You're too young to get into this. I don't want either of you getting hurt. " dad said, almost crying himself.

"AWW, come on. I'm always too young for everything!" Summer yelled.

"Not a good time, Summer!'' Winter said, almost yelling. Just then the guard yelled, "TIME'S UP!"

So the girls said good-bye and left...
