"You can't expect your life to end happily ever after... because where's the fun in that right?"

"Katsumi!"
"Yes Oniisan?"
"Could you buy soap when going out?"
"Sure thing!"
I tied up my shoes and grabbed my bag. I looked at my appearance on the mirror. My charcoal hair tied up on a pony tail, white buttoned short with elbow length sleeves, blue jeans, and black rubber shoes. I smiled and headed my way downstairs to see my brother sitting on the couch with his work bag. He is wearing a white polo shirt, black pants and black shoes.
"Work needs you?" I asked him and he nodded.
"Manager called and said that the person who was on duty today called in sick, so I'm going there in his place." He explained, stood up and I followed him to the door.
"Have your keys?" he asked and I showed it on my hands.
"Check!"
"Money and phone?"
"Both check!"
"Well then," He hugged me and I hugged back.
"Take care alright." He said and let go.
"I have Saber with me, there would be no problem." I ensured him and he gave a sigh and a smile.
"You also take care of yourself oniisan." I added and chuckled. He chuckled as well, locked the house and we parted ways.
My name is Katsumi Oda, 18 years old, a college student. Today I'm going on a date with my boyfriend. As I was walking to my destination, I looked at my watch and it's already 1 am; the time of our meet up and I saw him there standing at the park's gate.
"Saber!" I shouted his name and it caught his attention. I waved at him and he waved back. Saber Sterling, 21 years old, a college student as well and my childhood friend. He has brown hair, eyes both with different eye color; blue on the right and red on the left. His family said it was a weird genetics. But let's not get into details with it.
"Sorry did you wait long?" I asked him as I stood beside him.
"Not really, I just got here." He replied and held my hand. I blushed at his hold and he smiled at me.
"Well, shall we go?" He asked and I happily nodded. Me and Saber have been dating for 2 years, it was a wonderful experience and that I couldn't believe to have date him. He makes me the happiest gal in the world. I know it's too cliché of a love story but I didn't think this would happen to a girl like me.
"Kat, what would you like for lunch?" He asked as we walked in the park, our hand intertwined.
"Anything is fine with me, but I'll pay for myself this time..." I pouted. Remembering the last time we had a date he completely paid our lunches.
"Why so?" He asked.
"I-I'm still not used to you paying for something I should..." I replied blushing again. Without warning I felt his lips on my forehead making my whole body heat up.
"Well, I am your boyfriend. So get used it..." He gave me a genuine smile.
"Yeah... my stupid boyfriend..." We continued with our chat as we went around the park and the town. We spent the whole afternoon together. As we were about to call it, Saber insisted that he takes me home. I agreed and I wanted to spend more time with him.
"Oh, I was supposed to buy soap." I remembered.
"Is there a store near here?" he asked.
"Yes there's a store on this corner." I replied and pointed at my left.
"Then let's go buy one." He said and he followed. As we got to the store, a man suddenly bumped into me and it almost made me fall if it weren't for Saber holding me.
"Hey, watch it—," Saber growled but as we look at the man's direction, he was gone.
"What in the..." Saber murmured and left us confused. Did the man run? Before my mind could answer that, I spotted something on my feet. It was like a phoenix looking mask with a black bead on the place where an eye should be. I took it and observed it some more.
"Do you think he dropped this?" I questioned.
"Seems likely. What would you do with it?" I didn't want to answer but something made me to.
"I'll keep it for now. That guy might live near this neighbourhood." I replied and put the mask on my bag. Saber stared for a while and then quietly nodded.
"Try not to get yourself into trouble..." Saber showed a concerned face, he was adorable so I patted him, making me reach in tippy toes.
"I'll be fine..." I reassured him. I saw his cheek turn to pink and looked away.
"You know I get worried easily if it's about you..." he murmured and grabbed my hand leading me in the store. We bought the soap and headed to my home. As we reached the front door of my room, Saber and I hugged and said our farewell.
"Take care on your way home Saber..."
"Hmm, say hi to your brother for me." He said before vanishing from my sight. With my keys, I opened the door, went in and locked it from the inside.
I headed to my room, changed my clothes; wearing a white shirt and black shorts, and fixed my stuff that me and Saber bought. While arranging though, I spotted the mask and took it from my bag. It feels so smooth on my hand, like porcelain. The bead is actually a shiny gem like a diamond. I went in front of my mirror to see how it fits on my face. It has a really weird structure so I wondered. Turning it around, the side with the gem covers the left eye, leaving my right eye and mouth visible.
I stared at myself at the mirror. While staring I noticed that a dot is coming from the gem. It grew and became a blinding light, making me step back and fall into my bed. When I came to, the mask was in front of me. A black eye staring into mines.
