Iris have always wanted a big brother.

A little sister would be fine, too. They could play dress up, and dance and sing together. That would be lovely.

She knew that it was impossible especially since she didn't have a mom. She died when she was still small. She can't really remember her. It has always been her and her dad.

'It must be great to have a Kuya and a little sister... oh, and I'd like a cat, too.'

But Iris didn't really want a little brother. They like to annoy you and sometimes they're even gross.

But someone up there seems to want to mock her, because that was what was given to her.

She and her dad, Nestor, went out for dinner one night. She was going to surprise him. She was going to announce that she was accepted at her dream university with full scholarship.

But she was the one who got the surprise.

"Iris, do you remember the lady I introduced to you last time?"

She was startled but she answered, "Yes. Mrs. Duico, right?"

"Yes... Iris, I..."

"What is it dad?"

"We're getting married."

She couldn't remember how she reacted after her dad said that. Apparently, Mrs. Duico has been divorced from her Greek husband for a long time now.

She sighed. They were at the church and she was sitting with her instant brothers and sister.

She sighed again. After this day, her whole life will change. Since Mrs. Duico have three children, it would only be practical that she and her dad would be the one to move in with them. So bye bye home and room for Iris.

Well, at least her stepsiblings seem fine.

Zoe, the youngest was easy to befriend. She said earlier that she always wanted an Ate, and to have a very pretty sister (her words) is just a dream come true.

Paulo is meek. He seems to be shy and didn't really talk with her after their introductions.

Sebastian--Basti seems like a man inside a boy's body. He seems mature. He talks to the adults well and he takes good care of his little sister. He is friendly enough to her. He said he was pleased to meet her.

He made her feel like she was a child.

During the reception, Nestor danced with her while Basti danced with his mom, Cass. After that, Nestor approached Zoe and danced with her, too. Paulo also danced with their mom.

Basti approached her then and asked her to dance. She agreed. And they swayed to the music.

Iris concluded the change wouldn't be that bad.

When the music stopped, Nestor pulled her to the corner.

"Well, what you think of them?" He asked her.

"They're fine. I never really thought I'd like them much but I do." She said and she was happy she didn't have to lie.

Her dad smiled. "I'm happy then. I thought you wouldn't like it. I know I've been selfish, suddenly getting married like this--"

"You don't have to say sorry," Iris said quickly. "You love her. I can see that. And besides, I always wanted a Kuya, remember?"

"But Iris, you're the same age as Basti." Her father smiled at her.

"Yeah, but he acts like an old man, I can easily forget his age." She said and her dad laughed.

"Thank you, Iris."
