Chapter 10

The next two weeks passed with Cole and me actually getting some work done. I think Barbie noticed and I don’t know what her problem was but she would keep distracting Cole during lessons so we couldn’t do any work. Cole probably got fed up after a while because he was starting to ignore her continuous texts that she sends in English. Every time Cole is seen alone with me, she would make some excuse to drag him away which meant we could only get the work done at his house. I think we both silently agreed on not telling Barbie that we meet up at his house because we all know she would turn up there too. Also, it had become sort of a ritual to have dinner with the Walters family no matter how much I resisted, Lily would give me the look that said ‘I-will-force-the-dinner-down-your-throat-if-you-don’t’.

It was Friday again and I was standing on the Walters’ porch. The door opened to reveal a grinning Cameron. I rolled my eyes at him and went inside.

“Aw Ninzi, no hug for your favourite twin?” Cameron asked extending his arms.

“Sorry Cammy, you need a shower.” I smirked as he scowled at me. We reached the living room where Cole was on the sofa watching some sports channel. He looked up at our entrance.

“Cole, can you believe your ‘Nerd’ just called me Cammy?! Do I look like a Cammy?” Cameron exclaimed. But I think I was more focused on the ‘your Nerd’ part. I looked at Cole to see him stifling a laugh which he turned into a cough at his brother’s glare.

Cameron turned to me and said, “Now you’re getting it Ninzi.” I looked at him cautiously as he advanced towards me. Before I knew it he was hugging me and I was screaming at him to let go.

“Ew. You’re sweaty.”

Cameron laughed, “That’s what you get for calling me Cammy.”

“Cammy,” I grinned.

Cam narrowed his eyes at me, “I’m not a Cammy!” I think that did it because Cole was guffawing and then I joined in which made Cam scowl. I looked at Cole and he was grinning and his eyes were shining. Wow. I just realised that me, the ‘Nerd’ and the school’s popular guy had a moment. I was brought out from my reverie by Cam. “You two are so alike, you know that?” Cole and I looked at each other and then at Cam as if to say, ‘are you kidding?’ He just rolled his eyes and started to walk away.

“See ya later, Cammy,” I snickered putting emphasis on the nickname. Cole chuckled and Cam just swore which in turn made us start laughing again. When we finally calmed down, I think he realised that he was actually laughing with me because I saw him compose himself.

“C’mon Nerd, let’s get to it.” I plopped down on the sofa opposite him and he discussed the role play. The report was fully planned and all we had to do was type it up whereas, the play was a different story. We didn’t know what to do. Cole frowned. “Why don’t you come up with one of your weird ideas? It would be better than nothing.”

“My ideas are not weird. At least they help unlike yours.”

“What? My ideas are better, admit it.”

“No.”

“Yes.”

“No.”  We were having this argument again?

“Yes, they are,” Cole said crossing his arms.

“No, they aren’t,” I said, copying Cole and folding my arms.

“Yes they are!” Cole was getting frustrated now. I wasn’t giving up though.

“No they are not!” I said in the same tone.
