(Our world)
"I can't get my shoes tied!" I cry as I plop onto a stool short enough for me to sit on. Tears start to role down my cheeks and I start to ball. "Oh sweaty what's wrong?" My mom asks, she kneels down to my eye level. "I...I...Can't tie my...My shoes." I say with a muffled voice." Oh Meridyth, here let me show you how." she tells me with a comforting smile While grabbing my shoe laces."All you have to do is make a bunny ear." She tells me while doing so." Now you rap the other string around it." I watch her do this with such care.
"Finally you make the one I'm holding into a bunny ear, while pulling it through. Look, now you have a bow." She tells me with a shimmering smile." Honey, this is a good lesson." She tells me while stroking my brown hair." How is tis a lessom mommy?" I ask her with a confused look on my face." Well for example, when you couldn't get your shoe's tied you got really frustrated." I look down in discouragement. "But, you didn't let it stop you, and you asked for help." She tells me while smiling and lifting my face. "You will face many trails in your life. You might consider giving up, but always have to fight back and never give up." I give a big inspired smile, and slam her in a big and loving hug.
"Meridyth?" Hearing my name makes me jump."Oh sorry honey I didn't know you were asleep." My dad tells my as I stretch my arms out realising I was not in the best positions of sleep. Well knowing I'm in the passenger seat of a car it doesn't get better than that."Honey are you okay?" He asks me with a concerned look.
"Oh I'm fine. I just had a dream of mom." He looks at me with a comforting smile. "Well it was more like a memory. I was trying to tie my shoes and this was when I was around three or four. Then mom came over and helped me." He listens while looking at the road ahead. "I miss her." I say glumly while I look into his hazel, eyes sensing he's trying not to cry.
"I miss her too honey." He says while he takes one hand from the driving wheel, and lays it on top of my hand. "Thank you." I tell him with a deep breath trying to keep back my tears. "For what? He asks with a confused look on his face. "For helping me move on. I wasn't my self back home. My friends would look at me differently, we don't talk anymore. Than everything I see makes me think of mom. I'm not saying that I don't miss her I'm just saying that mom would want us to be happy." I tell him with a calming smile.
"Your just like your mother. Smart, beautiful, hard wor-." "Ya ya. I get what your saying just don't turn this into a speech okay." I say interrupting him with a kiddish smile trying to make things a little more positive. "The only thing that's different is my eyes. Her's are like stars, when I was little I would even make wishes when I saw them." I tell him as he looks into my hazel eyes, identical to his.
Looking back to the road he smiles, and changes the subject."We're here." He tells me while stopping the pickup so we can look at the sign on the side of the road. FOREST GROVE. I look at it with an intrigued look. "Hmph. So which way is the house?" I say looking back at him. Putting the car back into drive, he starts to enter the town.
Some reason I felt a pull in me. "It's nothing." I thought to myself. Than suddenly I felt a closing in feeling as if something was protecting me. "Did you hear me?" He says while interrupting my thoughts with a confused face. I look at him with a blank face having no idea what he was referring to."I said that we have to go into town to make sure we have the right address." He tells me while looking back at the road."Oh, sorry I just spaced out for a second." He must have not felt anything.
"It's fine. You just weren't saying anything, I didn't think you heard me." He tells me with a forgiving tone in his voice.
He pushes on the gas, and we enter Forest Grove. Going past houses and the highschool. I look At the name FOREST GROVE VIKINGS. Turning the corner a few blocks past the school we stopped at a shabby looking house. I look at it with a raised eyebrow. "Why are we stopping here dad?" I tell him with a disgusted look. He looks at me with a surprised face "Honey, this is the home of the person who sold the house to us." He tells me while I look at him with a confused look on my face. "Are you serious? The person who sold the house to us lives in that!" I say with a finger pointing towards the mobile home.
