I sat on the side of the bathtub in my master bathroom staring into space. It had been a little over two weeks since we had all came from Aruba and I wished that we could have stayed a little longer.
Aruba was like one of the most ultimate tropical paradise on this earth.
My phone vibrated in my hand signaling my alarm going off. I sat my phone to the side and picked up the pregnancy test I had taken ten minutes prior. It confirmed what I had already known; I was pregnant.
A burst of excitement ran through my body. For the first time ever, I knew that this was my husband's child. Yes, it did sound wrong but what can I say?
All I needed to do was go to the clinic and confirm since there were things such as false positives. I couldn't wait to share the news with Marcus. I was finally giving him the one thing that he wants.
After wrapping the test in tissue and disposing of it I grabbed my phone and text Britni.
Guess what?!
Bri: What.
I'm pregnant 😊😊
Bri: Okay, we both know you're not keeping it so what you excited for
I'm keeping this one..
Bri: Who's the father 👀👀
Seriously?
Bri: 😎💅
I tossed my phone to the side. I didn't have time for her games plus she had been moving funny since we had come back from the trip. I was now over it.
My phone buzzed again and this time it was Marcus letting me know that he was going to be home late. I took this as an opportunity to go and see my mom.
She was out on her porch before I could pull up in the driveway. "I knew you were coming by." She said before hugging me.
"How?"
"Mother's intuition. Come in, I'm making dinner if you're hungry."
"I'm very hungry." I stepped inside and followed behind her to the kitchen where the smell of lasagna smacked me in the face. "It smells good in here."
"Thanks. Where's Marcus?"
"Work, where's Dad?"
"He's in the basement. I'm sure that he will up soon." She said.
I silently sat at the table and watched her finish up her meal. "Can I tell you something?"
"You're cheating on your husband. I already know."
"How?"
"My thoughts were confirmed the night of your wedding. You're a bit worse than me, I would never have sex with another man at my own wedding." She shook her head as she sat a plate of lasagna in front of me along with a glass of lemonade.
"You have no room to criticize me and besides that isn't what I had to tell you."
"Well what is it?"
"You're going to be a grandma." I laughed as she began jumping up and down.
"What's going on in here?" My dad asked.
"Hey Dad." I smiled as he kissed my forehead.
" Hey baby."
My mom was still screaming. "James our baby is pregnant!"
"Congrats. You ready for parenthood?"
"As I'll ever be."
I continued my visit and left a couple of hours later. By the time I had made it home, Marcus was still gone. I had showered and tried to wait up but I ended up falling asleep.
