Makensi's P.O.V

I groaned as i woke up. I couldn't believe how the week had flown by. And i still have to follow through with my word. I hadn't told Ana or any of the other kids here about the encounter i had with the Prince. They would all think i was nuts or something. Like where have you heard of a royal, letting a thief and none the less a street kid like me of the hook.

I went down to the stream with Caesar and Ana. We don't talk much in the morning because Ana and Caesar aren't people Morning people. I guess that's one thing they have in common.

After our little stream bath we went on to eat our morning stale bread.

"I have to leave, but I'll be back later on." i said starting to get up and leave.

"Where you going?" Ana asked. I didn't know how to respond to that one. What would i say. 'Oh hey, i'm going to meet your prince charming.' now what friend would that make me. I know it's a lie. But in life i feel there a re those lies which hurt people and those lies which protect people, and i was using the second lie. Protect kind of lie.

"Oh, um, i'm just going for a walk around town." i said. Kind of sounding unsure myself.

"Kay, but don't take too long." she said in a motherly protective way.

****almost 30 minutes later

i made my way to the back of the castle through the wooded area. I peeped into the kitchen hoping and praying that the Prince wouldn't be there. But my praying and hoping wasn't fulfilled.

"You're early." he said.

"Yeah" i said waiting to be invited into the kitchen. "So what's my punishment, your highness?" i said looking him dead in the eyes.

"For you to stay here at the castle." he said and he looked serious. There weren't any signs of joking here.

"What do you mean by staying here at the castle." i asked trying so hard for my voice to not come out shakey.

"Staying in one of the rooms." he said smiling like what he had said was a friendly gesture or something.

"I don't get what you mean." i said still standing outside.

"you're going to be staying at the castle from now on." he said taking steps closer to me. This guy couldn't be serious. That's when i felt a pair of hands on my arms. They were not friendly feeling hands. They felt rough.

"Wait." the Prince said gesturing to the person who was holding me.

"Think of it as a favor. You don't have to be on the streets anymore and your friends will get food everyday if you stay."

"So what you're bribing me now." i asked

"No offering, because no matter what you're going to be staying here at the castle." his voice had authority in it.

"And what if I don't?" i said looking back at the tree behind me and the buff guard standing besides me.

"Then you leave me no choice." with that said i took a run for it. I ran with all my might and taking corners. There were guard on my tail and i knew i had to loose them. The woods were like my second family, because it gave me a place to clear my thoughts. It gave me shelter and sometimes i times like these it gave you an advantage when being chased. I don't know for how long i was being chased, until they gave up. They had chased me all the way into town.

I reached our hiding/sleeping spot almost breathless. I was panting and i tried getting my breathing back to normal.
