Tom Wakefield is Sandy Plains' bad boy and screw up. He knew what role he had to play: he was the wild child of the town's war hero. His brother was the one who did everything right while he drank his life away or spent time behind bars.
Then the world ended. Blue lightning streaked from the sky and major capitals around the United States are reduced to ash. Small and insignifcant Sandy Plains was left alone, but the survivors of the apocalypse found themselves in a new world where there is no law, safety or assurance of survival.
And amidst all the chaos, Tom suddenly found himself wearing another role: Hero.
