CHAPTER 1: Èponine's POV

I was in a cold, dark, alleyway; this is where I normally sleep since my parents beat me. They make me work as their slave, and don't take care of me, leaving me to starve or freeze to death.. Just as I was laying in that cold alleyway shivering, I see Enjolras walking towards me. He had a worried look on his face. "Èponine, are you alright?" He said worriedly. "I'm fine." I quickly said. "Just my mama and papa beating me again.." I winced a little. "Èponine you look hurt.. Let me take you to my place and I'll take care of you and get you something to eat.. You're starving.." He looked into my eyes a little.. I immediately got lost in his. He picked me up, ever so gently, yet he could not let go of me. "Enjolras," I said "why are you doing this for me?" He remained silent, holding me close. I winced again. "'Ponine, shhh I'm here..." he said, ever so slightly stroking my cheek with his thumb. I smiled through the pain. "I-I love you, M-M'sieur Enjolras..."

He smiled slightly. "I love you too Èponine."

Enjolras POV: I don't get how she can take all this pain and abuse, yet she only smiles. She's hurt, and she smiles through the pain.

We got to my place, Èponine was not looking well. She's so skinny you could just see her ribs through her dress. She's bruised badly and has cuts all over. I laid her in bed. "E-Enj," Èponine said, "t-thank you.." She smiled. "Your welcome, Ep." I sighed. "Now what's hurting you?" She shook her head. "Nothing," she replied, "you make me happy, Monsieur Enjolras.. Which makes me forget my pain.." A grin spread across my face, I gently moved her hair out of her face. "You know, Ep, you are so brave. Now let me get you some food.." She sighed. "Oh alright, I'll eat for you. You care so much..."

I made her some soup, and she ate it, but very slow. She was weak. "Here, let me feed you.." I said. A cute smile spread across her face. Her dimples showing deeply. I fed her, holding her head in my hands. She leaned into my hands, seeming so happy. I've never seen her so content...

Éponine's POV: I woke up the next morning, feeling much better. Enjolras was sleeping in a chair by my bed, looking very exhausted. He had been up taking care of me all night..

I texted Azelma "hey sis, in case you're wondering where I am, I'm with Enjolras.☺️" No reply. I waited for a while. Still no reply. I began to fret a little.. I texted her again "Azelma, what are you doing?" No reply again. Just then I heard an ambulance go by. I could feel the blood rushing through my head. I was shaking in fear. I tried to call her. No answer.

I woke Enjolras quickly. "ENJOLRAS WAKE UP!!" He woke slightly, and yawned. "Èponine? What's wrong?!" He said tired, but worried. "I think Azelma is in trouble.." I said choking back tears. "Let's call Gavroche and see..." Enj said, taking out his phone. He dialed Gav's number, and thankfully got an answer. "H-Hewwo?" Little Gav said crying. "Gavroche what's wrong?!" Enj said, now freaking out. "Z-Zewwy was in a c-cawr accident.." He was sobbing.

I heard their conversation. The tears began to fall...

Éponine's POV: We got to the hopsital, and found Azelma's room. She was laying in bed, looking absolutely terrible, breathing slow and hard. I ran over to her bed, holding her hand. "A-Azelma... It's me Èponine, your sister..." She weakly looked up at me. "È-Ep..." She was fighting to keep her eyes open. I gently took her head in my hands. "Azelma please.." I choked back tears. "Don't leave us..." She winced. "I-I need to g-go... I-I see Jesus..." I sobbed, holding her in my arms. "Goodbye, Z-Zelma..." She laid her head on me. "G-Goodbye Eppy.." She looked up at me, smiled weakly. She closed her eyes and breathed her last breath.
