When I got to school the next day Juan came up to me and never left my side.
Yesterday night, he woke me up in the middle of the night just to talk. I couldn't help but tell him about the texts.
After that he's been very over- protective. He won't leave no matter what. I was surprised when Clayton came over to me.
Juan elbowed me teasingly. I elbowed him back. Clayton looked at me and gave me a look that asked 'Can I talk to you'.
Juan walked away and Clayton grabbed my hand and dragged me outside.
"Clayton, what's wrong?" I asked worried.
"I have to show you something." He said.
He reached into his back pocket and pulled out a HUGE roll of money. Why would he have that much?
"This is why I didn't get any sleep last night or the night before. I've been working the night shifts at my job on school nights, so I could make enough money to buy you anything you've ever wanted." He said with a smile.
To say I was shocked was an understatement. I couldn't figure out why he would do this. Well he proved that he likes-er I mean loves me.
I realized that I hadn't said anything.
"Clayton, you didn't have to do this. I want you to quit your job. I don't want to be spoiled with riches, but I want to be spoiled with love." I said.
"I'll quit only if you'll be my girlfriend and let me take you out on a date. Please. Let me prove to you that I'm worthy of you." He said hopeful.
I thought about it for a second.
"Okay, I'll go on a date with you." I said with a smile.
He sighed a breath of relief and pulled me into him for a hug. It felt nice. I honestly felt protected and loved when his arms were around me.
Suddenly the text message came to mind. I hope they were just empty threats. I hope they didn't hurt me or Clayton.
He pulled away and caressed my cheek.
"I'll see you later Marie." He whispered in my ear and kissed my forehead.
He walked away as I stood there dumbfounded. I heard someone running behind me. I spun around to see it was Juan.
"I think we have a suspect to who sent the messages." He said quickly.
He pointed to a spot that was small and in between the school and the gym. I was shocked when I saw who was watching Clayton walk away. They saw I was looking at them.
They scurried away fast but I saw the name written across the back of the Letterman's jacket.
Spencer...
Wait, I know that last name anywhere. I was right.
It was Leonel Spencer.
