It was dark, with barely any light peeking through onto the street.
Yuri never had been good at sleeping before a competition, so he made a habit out of walking around at night. The moon was hidden behind grey clouds, and the only light seemed to be a half broken, flickering streetlight. He passed by a vending machine, using the faint glow from within the case as a light. The street was empty, completely desolate. In the distance he could see a public bathroom. At least there was a place to relieve his anxieties.
Walking towards the public bathrooms slowly, he heard an echo nearby. The echo was followed by a sickly thud noise, and the silence once more filled the streets. Filled with curiosity, the raven haired male peered through the bushes.
A tense silence followed afterwards, with sickly shuffling and a damp dragging noise.  He didn't know what he had hoped to expect. He knew he shouldn't have been curious. He made his slip up; into something, something he knew he shouldn't have pried into.
Looking ahead, all he could see was black. A black darker than a black hole. The atmosphere heavily smelt like copper- like something metallic and raw, mixed with water and alcohol. The floor was damp, he guessed it had been raining beforehand. There was a figure- a man, silhouetted faintly a few metres ahead of him, cleaning something. Something he couldn't make out. Above him, was a dark, old, tattered street lamp that managed added a bare flicker before passing out. Yuri kept focused and saw a better picture of her scene laid out before him. The man was slender, tall and slender with a silver fringe that floated with the tangy breeze. He wore a black trench coat with a faded red hue that clung to the bottom. He also appeared to be wearing a suit- so supposedly he was rich. Yuri could also tell he was wearing leather gloves, the colour of a deep crimson.  And what he was holding...That was the last straw.  The light has reflected off the glinting knife he was holding, and it was painted with red blood. Not only that, he had realised that they weren't alone. Or..used to not be alone. Three slump bodies lay on the ground, unmoving and mute. Yuri was wrong. It hadn't been raining at all; he had been standing in the corpse's blood all along. The floor was utterly covered in it..and so was the man. Yuri tensed. The man holding the knife had murdered them. Maybe he had been injured also- he was covered in the damp red and..no. He was covered in their blood. It was all too surreal, and Yuri felt his head spin multiple times. A groan escaped from one of the corpses, and the one to his left trembled slightly. The victim- he was a male. He could tell by his tone of voice.
" ..N..Nikiforov..Victor..you..won't get away..with..this.." The murderer was already at his side, kicking him sharply in the ribs before placing his shoe on his throat. This earned the victim a sharp wail in pain. Only moments later a deafening crack escaped from the victim's neck and just like that he was gone. Gone like the others. Throat snapped like a twig. Who was the murderer? Why was he so.. ..professional. It took Yuri a few moments to process the whole scene, before his blood ran cold.
Victor..Nikiforov?
His idol? Skating professional Victor Nikiforov? Gold medalist figure skating champion? His mind span with all the questions remains unanswered. He felt dizzy now- sick. He felt like he could vomit, but his body was paralysed. It was no mistake. It was Victor Nikiforov. How couldn't he tell? Silver hair, posture..everything. Yuri felt nausea wash upon him, and his anxiety span and span within him. He covered his ears with both hands, and tried to get his breathing back to normal. He had just witnessed a murder. And one involving a celebrity. Struggling to breathe, he let out a strangled cry- and then he knew he had made a threatening mistake. Victor's eyes turned his direction in the blink of an eye, and Yuri took no moment to run out of the bushes and ran as fast as he could. It was dark. He could run and hide without being found. He was shaking uncontrollably, but his mind was focused somewhat. All he needed...was to hide.
Why am I doing this.
Yuri ran faster, and faster, hearing his pulse beat in his hears.
I'm being chased by a murderer.
He found a dark, small alleyway and dashed into it, slowing down as he pressed his back towards the wall. He panted heavily, placing a hand to his chest; his heart rapidly beating faster than any other time in his life. Had he escaped? His adrenaline must have sent him mad. He closed his eyes, which made no difference as the whole area around him was pitch black. The only difference when he snapped his eyes back open were the cold, steely azure eyes glaring into his own. Hands wrapped around his throat, and he was forcibly pushed into the wall behind him. Before he could breathe, he was winded, and he struggled to keep himself conscious. Silver hair glittered in the moonlight, and his gaze was sharp like a blade. He opened his mouth to speak- revealing pearly white teeth. Everything about him seemed so perfect. But everything was part of his facade. In his case, his teeth resembled that of a great white shark.
" что ты видел? "
Yuri's head throbbed at the impact against the wall, and at the hands against his throat which chocked him slowly. He tried to process what was being spoken to him, but it was in a foreign language. He guessed Russian- but he couldn't remember much. Everything was going too fast. The figure before him frowned, loosening his grip as he allowed Yuri some air. Yuri took it gratefully, heaving in every amount he could get- despite the stale smell of alcohol and trash around him.
" Do you speak English? " His accent was deep and smooth at the same time. It was directly bitter towards Yuri, and it made the black haired male flinch as if tiny nails were against him. He nodded weakly, finding himself unable to look away from the gaze. His muscles ached from all the sudden running, and his throat was raw. He was probably going to be murdered- stabbed and slung into one of the trash piles next to him.
Fitting.
He thought. I probably deserved this anyway.
" What did you see? " The menacing voice snapped Yuri from his thoughts, and Yuri took in a deep breath.
" Everything. "
Just like that, hands were clasped around his throat again- tighter than before but still not enough to choke all the air out of him.
" And you know who I am? "
" Yes "
Feeling around silently, Yuri felt his hand wrap around a small but sharp piece of glass. He could...fight his way out. It was a death wish but he could succeed.
Victor let out a frustrated sigh, loosening his grip on Yuri once more. He turned around, giving Yuri the perfect opportunity to lunge at him, blade of glass in hand. In the blink of an eye, Victor was already behind him and twisted his arm tightly behind his back. Yuri yelled in pain and instantly dropped the glass and heard it shatter as it hit the ground. A blade was at his throat in no time, the cold metal against his throat but not cutting. Victor sighed before letting go and slammed Yuri back into the wall, accompanying the gesture with a sharp kick to the ribs. Yuri coughed, spluttered, heaved and squirmed but found no desire to receive another blow. Hopefully one of his ribs hadn't been fractured, maybe it was just some internal bleeding.
" Katsuki Yuri, Japanese figure skater. Came dead last in the last Grand Prix, but is know for incredible dedication. " He leaned in just so that his mouth was next to the skater's ear.
" Shouldn't a little piglet like you take into consideration that I know everything about you, and one wrong more could sent your family into danger. "
His statement was accompanied by a chuckle, which seemed warm and joking at first, but Yuri felt cold sweat drip down his forehead. His breath hitched, and he gritted his teeth.
" D..don't.."
Victor smirked, neither backing up or leaning closer. He reeked of blood, and Yuri tried to calm his nerves; closing his eyes.
" Speak up, piglet. "
" My..family..leave them alone... "
Victor chuckled again, holding Yuri's chin firmly upwards to look at him; studying his features.
" Then you will keep your silence? "
Yuri nodded almost instantly. He felt the sickness creep up on him, and he didn't want any part into this horrible incident. His back ached from the pressure against the wall, and his pulse was racing faster than ever before. A murderer was..touching him. Victor paused a moment before pulling out a small card and buried it deep into Yuri's pocket.
" That's good...because no one will believe you even if you do tell. "
With a flourish, Victor turned away and walked ahead of Yuri, an ominous presence behind him.
" ..What are you waiting for? I'll take you back to your hotel. Not to mention I'll be keeping close watch on you from now on. All the time. "
Yuri felt no need to struggle, and no need to think. He just followed shortly behind, feeling manipulated and controlled. Unable to be free for the rest of his life. His hand clasped tightly around the card that victor had given him- which was his phone number, and he gulped.
" piggies shouldn't be out this late at night. "

Facing the competition tomorrow would be hard.

(( and that's the end. :3 I plan to do more AU's in the future ))
