Laila POV

Now I was maybe two miles deep into the woods, not having a clue where in the world I was headed. I couldn't hear the sirens anymore which made me sigh in relief. I mean, it's not everyday a teenage girl gets chased by the whole squad of police in the city. What if they actually caught me? I didn't fancy the idea of spending the rest of my life in a.. cage. I can hardly stay content in my bedroom for more than an hour and they expect me to stay behind bars? Uh no, there's no way I'm doing that. It was getting dark and plus I was honestly tired of running. I figured I'd just sleep on the ground, one night won't hurt. I layed down underneath a tree and drifted into sleep.
In the morning, I woke up with a back ache from hell. And gah I was hungry. As soon as I got myself up, I started on my quest again. I don't even know what I'm looking for. I guess for someone, civilization. I just know that I need to get away from the city because I'm sure that my face is plastered all over the place. After a while of walking, I saw a dirt road in the distance and mentally screamed in joy. I travled up the road and came to a hill that looked like it had been mowed. That means people. Up the hill, I spotted a small house. Nothing too fancy but very well taken care of. There was a black range rover parked in the drive way. Great, someones home. I was honestly scared to death to go up and knock on the door. I mean was I far enough away from the city? What if they recognized me and reported me? There's so many things that could go wrong but oh I would kill for some food. After contemplating whether or not to approach the house, I heard a start of an engine. I couldn't see into the windows because they were tinted so I still had no idea of who lived here. I just knew that I needed to hide or I would get caught snooping. I ran to a tree near the back of the house. Now that I was hidden, the range rover rolled out of the driveway and down the dirt road. Okay, now was the time to scope the place out.
I walked towards the house to have a peek into the window. Eh, nothing special. It was very neat but nothing to really indicate what type of person lived here. Then, I tried the shed. I know, that's a little overboard and stalkerish but I needed to find out whether I should stay or keep carrying on with my journey. No luck in there either. I guessed it probably would be safe to keep on going. As I was walking back towards the backyard to leave, I saw a large dog laying in a kennel. I had to go pet it or at least acknowledge it. What can I say, I'm a sucker for animals. After a while, the dog and I grew a relationship with each other. It was so cute and I got wrapped up in playing with it that I forgot that I was in a complete strangers yard. Just as I threw the dog's toy for him to fetch, I heard a deep voice behind me, "Um, excuse me?"
