immortality [ɪmɔːˈtalɪti];
the quality of deserving to be remembered for a long time; timelessness.abasets point of view
he is everywhere. immortal.
he has been missing for 2 years, yet no one manages to forget his dazzling smile and ocean blue eyes. his fear was oblivion and yet he had nothing to worry about.
flashback
"come on, drink up babs. you might spill all your secrets!" "WHAT?!? that sounds so clichè josh!" i reply back to josh and his over dramatic command. i give a quick side look to alyssa, she is the only one who knows that i like josh, and i want to keep it that way. "i think im fine," i say whilst placing my cup on the ground. yes me, alyssa, brielle, ronan and josh were 15, and yes we were underage drinking together. its not the worst right? at least we arent shoplifting or murdering anyone. we all finished our drinks, and felt really dazy; i mean its just a side effect of alcohol. starring at josh, i lie down and get myself off for sleep.i jolt up to feeling alyssa tap my shoulder. "josh isnt here! where is he!" alyssa panics. alyssa is basically the mum of the group, so naturally she is stressed that one of us are missing. "hes josh! hes probably out at a club making out with a girl or something." i reply monotone. everyone else is stirring, buy yet listening intently. "i thought i heard a scream," alyssa mumbles with a faraway voice. "im worried guys," ronan speaks up. "what if something bad happened?" "shut up guys, as babs said, hes probably making out with some girl," brielle rolls her eyes as she explains herself. "lets go find him then!"
flashback endshe never came back. a year later from his death, i am back in rosewood today, still missing someone i love dearly.
ronans point of view
it's always the same picture they use of him. him staring off into the camera, smiling. the last picture of him taken. i've seen it so many times, i only have to shut my eyes and can visualise every singular detail etched in it. the loose shirt, the crinkle in the corner of his eye from laughing, his messy hair. this picture is posted all of the town with the heading "MISSING." i rip the poster off the lamp-post and scrunch it up angrily, throwing it on the ground. then I look around quickly to make sure no one saw, before hopping onto my bike and riding into school. after chaining my bike up, i head towards the entrance. straight away i spot pink, short hair bobbing in the crowd. Could it actually be?
"ABASET!" i scream. she turns around and sure enough, it's her. she smiles and waves, standing to the side as she waits for me to catch up.
"hey." She greets me as I near her. she's wearing a tight black shirt with a white dream catcher print on it, and a just above the knee length flowing, raven skirt covered in flowers. her nails are fluro pink and she wears tall, high heeled boots. her eyes are winged and she wears a dark pinkish reddish lipstick. she's always had her own style, and somehow she manages to rock it.
"hi! when did you get back?" i ask. She's been overseas for the last year in Iceland.
"i got back yesterday.." She says vaguely.
"you should of called me and told me you were back!" i exclaim.
"we kind of lost touch, remember?" she replies weakly. automatically i know she's seen the posters.
"they're everywhere, aren't they?" i mumble. she looks up to the sky and shuts her eyes, sighing.
"that's what I miss about Iceland. at least there I could forget, but there's not any chance of that happening here, is there?" She forces out a laugh.
"I guess not."
abasets point of view
first class is English. i smile to myself as I sit down. i love English, I've always wanted to be an author one day. ronan sits next to me as we wait for the teacher to come, for class to start, and for the students to sit themselves down.
brielle walks into class, joined by ashton. ashton is every girls wet dream; musical, jock and smoking hot. not to mention funny, sensitive and caring. brielle leans over and kisses ashton, and he tangles his hand in her hair. blushing slightly at the turn of events, i notice brielle's new attire. very new attire.
"what happened while I was gone..?" i whisper to ronan, watching as brielle slides into her seat as ashton leans over her desk, whispering something into her ear as she laughs.
"it wasn't just with you that we drifted apart.. we drifted apart all together." ronan whispers back. at that moment alyssa enters the class, sporting a baggy Dan and Phil jumper, ripped blue skinny jeans and having her naturally curly (ive never propery seen it curly, but always straight). don't let that fool you, she's driven by an unknown force to be smarter than Einstein (a/n abaset i stg). she sits down calmly and places her books before looking through her notes. not knowing what to do, i get up and walk over to her.
"alyssa!" i smile as i stroll up to her. she looks up at me, at first confused before breaking out in a grin. "babs!" she laughs before hugging me.
"how are you?" i ask. she looks at me unsurely. "yeah, i know. he's everywhere." i add. before i can say anything else, i'm cut off by a random boy.
"oh look, all of josh's friends are reunited." he chuckles. I turn around and glare at him.
"and you are?" I ask, trying to hold back my anger.
"oh, no one of importance, m'lady." he does a little bow and walks off, joining a group of other boys. i turn back to ronan and alyssa.
"see, that's what I hate about Rosewood. we're never known as abaset, ronan, alyssa and brielle: the missing boys friend" i say, looking out the window.
alyssas point of view
when you tie up a bunch of pencils with a rubber, they tightly form and entity, yet it is almost impossible to get one out; but if your lucky enough to get one out, the rubber band loosens without that extra pencil, and all the pencils seperate from their entity and become indivisual.
that's what's happened to us four. josh was that pencil who formed the entity, and now that he's not here, we're falling out of the rubber band that once held us together.
i do what i always do; i work hard. i'm top of the class. it doesn't fool me though, i may be going well in school, but the rest of my life is a mess. (a/n abaset you get me)
sometimes i just expect josh to stroll into school one day, into the awaiting crowds of admirers. to tell his story of how he survived. sometimes i imagine he was kidnapped, making a marvellous escape; other times he went on adventures, enjoying bathing in the sun with someone he loves. but thats just the issue with imagining; it brings false hope and breeds eternal misery.
"have you heard from him?" "do you know where he is?" "do you know where he might be?" everyone looks at me with their expectant, greedy eyes, wanting me to feed their curiosity. i always give the same, bland reply.
"i don't know." and they look at me confused. how could i not know? i know everything! top of the class alyssa... and then they wonder away and laugh to their friends, asking about how good a friend could I be if I can't even keep my friends, if they don't even stay.
trying to keep my head away from such thoughts, i bury my head into my books. i'm not sure what i want to be when i'm older, though my parents push me to make a decision. i could be anything i want, they say. does that include being free? i ask them. then they laugh it off as if I said something hilarious. freedom isn't possible in rosewood.
english flies by quickly, and so does the rest of the day. soon enough I'm home, and i'm watching youtube. watching youtube and ignoring the problems of the real world.
hey guys! this is the first chapter, hope you enjoyed!
