Hell has invaded earth. I'm surprised that humanity survived this, I'm surprised that anything survived. What used to be forests were now piles of ash, hidden behind clouds of smoke. Our cities were obliterated, though the occasional building was spared. The atmosphere is hardly existent, just barely enough to keep us alive.
Humans didn't try stopping this catastrophe, they helped it. As the sun baked the Earth, humanity ignored it. They built atomic bombs, preparing for World War IV. Countries were too busy fighting about who would own parts of Mars, since they had finally sent people up there. They didn't notice the increase of forest fires or the burning of the mesosphere.
We watched helplessly meteoroids bombarded Earth. We were scared for our friends, our families, and our fellow humans down there. Yet, we couldn't do a thing. Being apart of the moon civilization spared our lives, but not our sanity. Some had already gotten into ships and went back to Earth with the false hope that they could help. Nothing can save us from the hell we brought upon ourselves.
I sat in my little white room. My brother sat in a shelter, deep in the Earth. He was surrounded by darkness while I was enclosed in the vastness of space. We touched our hands to the electronic tablets, pretending that the other was right there, but he wasn't. As my twin, I couldn't lose him. We had been lucky so far, unlike our family. We had endured the loss of our parents, but I'd had him that time. If he did perish, I'd truly be alone.
It was torture to watch Earth be bombarded by these rocks, so I simply hid in my closet, tablet close at hand.
"Listen Nicole," Ray said to me, "I'll be fine. Once this is over, they'll probably send ships to rescue us from here and I'll be there before you know it." Small tears fell down my face as I attempted to threaten him, "You better be right Ray J. Solrius." He smiled and replied cheerfully, "That's the Sis I know." I couldn't help myself as I burst into tears and said, "Please live Ray. Please." All he said was, "I love you too Nicole," before his line disconnected.I didn't move from my position in the closet, too afraid to hear news of Earth's situation. I stayed in my little world, still pretending that I didn't lose my parents and that Ray was standing right next to me. I enjoyed my little fantasy, until I felt a hand shake me awake.
Like I said before, hell invaded Earth, but in my world, it didn't stop there.
Intense huh? Hope you enjoyed!
Weef out.
