BURNING RADIANCE: THE RETRIEVAL

INTRODUCTION

"The world we know... the world we change... do we really know everything?"

Do you really believe we are nothing but a simple creation? I believe there's more. We are superior above all the Creator's masterpiece and actually, He did left us gifts: the intellect and will. Not knowing there's more... and science has unlocked the Third Gift.

Radiance was the third gift of the Creator and was given only to those who followed Him or what the Innocents called as Prophets. Prophets are able to wield Radiance and was granted immortality. Some are able to withstand the heat of flame and are capable of producing one, some are able to breath underwater and control it at their own will, and some are able to create a forest in a blink of an eye. Variety of radiance was formulated and some even defy the laws of science. As the prophets build their families, they transfer their ability to their young, giving them the ability to wield radiance as well. New Radiance is born every time two different bloodlines intertwine, creating much complex radiance and passing it to their child. This proves the Mendalian Inheritance.

Not all mixtures are successful, some offsprings of the Prophets are not able to wield radiance for Radiance is a recessive trait. Those who are not capable of wielding the Gift are called the Innocents.

The widespread of Radiance on earth caused chaos between bloodlines. The Council of Prophets, consist of the Original wielders of Radiance, decided to elect a Ruler to let peace reign once again.

Peter, wielder of the souls, was the first elected Ruler of the earth. However, the hope of upbringing peace turned otherwise. Clouded by greed, Peter conquered the land and let his bloodline reign. He secured that every offspring of His people was a wielder or else, he will slain it. He separated the innocents from the wielders of radiance, isolating them in an island called the Fallen Land. Seeing all the chaos in His own masterpiece, the Creator gave "Her" a powerful radiance- the earth.

The earth now is capable of taking someone's life and turn it into an empty vessel. The gift of immortality was taken back and earth will claim everyone.

The prophets suddenly turned into corpses.

Like earth's chaos, the isolation was eradicated. Humans lived up with both science and Radiance. But a group of top-ranked radiance wielders still wishes for the isolation of the Innocents and they are planning something... somethings dark and destructive.

ACT I: BARS OF FATE

February 18, 2624

"Welcome to the City of Fervor!" signed in the arch of the city entrance.

The city was full of lights. People sitting at the park, enjoying the wondrous view of the star at night. High-tech cars that has auto-pilot system drove in the streets if Fervor. The city was influenced by modern scientific picturesque. The evolution of technology was highly appreciated by the Innocents. The cellular phones became earphone-like gadgets that has projectors, trains were run by natural radiance, energy coming from earth. Since Fervor was manipulated by Governor Iosif, wielder of metal, radiance-users were given privilege. They were given special treatment in restaurants and public transportation.

At the top of the "Traveller's Inn" sign, there stood a boy with a black coat and and white rose corsage. He has white and pale complexion, his eyes were colored emerald, white haired, and his lips was pale as well. He was standing like he is waiting for something. His facial expression was blank yet his eyes stares like a murderer. The boy was Joaquine, son of Zion (leader of the infamous Corrosive Slither), grew up in a family of assassins. He was a cold-hearted boy. Joaquine always does his mission successfully and brutally. He tortures his target until it gives what he wants then slain it. It was the way of the Corrosive Slither. They accepted clients regardless of its race, as long as the price is right. They have slain countless Innocents and wielders of Radiance.
