Melanie's POV

I woke up with a smile on my face. Today was the day where I was going to tell my crush how I felt about him. My smile widened a tiny bit as my five year old brother entered my room yelling and singing,

"Pancakes. Pancakes. How could someone possibly go wrong with pancakes? Pancakes. Pancakes. They make your life so much better!"

"Ryan," I groaned. He just smiled his little cute smile as he put his face closer to mine.

"Pancakes. Pancakes. How could you still be sleeping when there are pancakes? Pancakes. Pancakes." He whisper sang while tilting his head side to side.

"I know, buddy, I know." I yawned as I ruffled his hair. "I get it. We are in love with pancakes."

"Melly," He complained as he pulled back and fixed his hair. I couldn't help, but chuckle. Ryan was right. I was sleeping when I should be eating pancakes. I got up and Ryan smiled to see that he has accomplished to get me out of bed. I silently snuck up behind him as he was turned around and already walking towards the door. However, before I could even try to lift him up, he jumped around and shouted with an evil grin,

"Boo!"

"Ah," I screamed and landed with a thud on my floor. My five year old brother just scared me. He really scared me. I wasn't even pretending to be scared. I groaned as Ryan leaned in to my face as he sang with a silly expression on his face,

"That's what you get." Without further a due, he ran out of my room laughing and giggling, proud of what he had accomplished.

"Mommy, mommy! Guess what I did." I heard Ryan faint voice eagerly say from downstairs. I am so getting him for that, I thought as I rubbed my face. Then a thought hit me, I was finally going to tell him how I felt about him. I had to look my best today. For now, I was just going to concentrate on the pancakes and how to get my evil little brother back.

"Melanie!" My friend Shelly yelled out as she was running towards my locker to get to me.

"Hey," I smiled at her as she finally was in hearing distance.

"Today is the day, right?" She asked me. I blushed slightly as I nodded.

"Yeah, but I hope he just feels the same." I sighed.

"Oh girl, he would be stupid not to want you. I mean you are so beautiful. Look at you. Who doesn't want you? The way he looks at you." She began her lecture about guys and them wanting me.

"Um, Shelly?" I cut her off as I glanced back and forth between her and my crush.

"Yeah?" She asked looking at me with her brown eyes. Everyone says brown eyes aren't pretty, but I love them. There are so many shades of brown, I love it, which is part of the reason I fell for him.

"Um-" But I stopped myself as I looked across the hallway to see him looking at me. I looked away shyly and saw him looking at me. He smiled a small smile to me, and went back to his friends. "He just smiled at me, I think."

"See girl?" She asked. "Who doesn't freaking want you? You're so lucky."

"Yeah, lucky." I absentmindedly repeated.

"Shayanne, tell your idiot friend her to stop drooling on David." I heard Shelly say. Wait a minute, Shayanne?

"Hey!" I exclaimed as I saw my best friend standing next to me.
