Strength

Chapter 1 - Sera

   Burning hot pain radiated from my chest, right where my heart was. Am I going to have a heart attack? I asked myself aloud. I could hear my heart beat from my ears; my head was throbbing as if I were a construction worker using the drill. Boom, boom, boom, boom. I couldn't even hear myself think." One, two, three..." I silently counted my pulse. "Seventy-one. Okay, it's alright, girl... You aren't going to have a heart attack.''

   But then, BOOM!, it hit me. Something inside made me fall down. A hot flash later, I was on the ground feeling crippled. "MOM! DAD! SOMEONE... Help?" I exclaimed airily. Long seconds ticked by and I thought that nobody would save me. The encaged butterflies raged on and escaped; tiredly I prayed. I prayed for another day, I prayed for help, I prayed for a lot in that minute. Is this really happening? Feeling like this was a dream, I pinched myself; nothing. Was this a dream?

   Numbness spread throughout my body; starting from my chest and slowly broaden in my carcass the blunt feeling consumed me. Then... I thought of him - my love, my babe, my everything, my reason to live, my backbone, my heart . In this vulnerability, I found strength. In this strength, I found love. It gave me enough stamina to vociferate once more.

   BAM, BAM, BAM! The entryway dropped on the canvas with a hoard of bustling ambulance workers and policemen hustled through to save. One-by-one they examined me with analytical eyes as they transported into the vehicle. During the journey, I succumbed into the moment, connected my eyelids, and let my mind to wander off. Total and utter bliss.

   Blinking my eyes open was easy. Breathing? Not so much... My lungs ached with a cold fiery. Oh my lord, my head was throbbing more than it was before. I swear, I could feel the vibrations course throughout my head. As I looked around, the realization of my surroundings struck me; I was hooked up to a beeping monitor. The beeps accelerated as I peered around the room. Why am I here? What's happening? Where. Is. He?

   Suddenly, I heard a loud snore coming from my knee area... And in the spur of the moment, the roses seemed to appear on my stomach; he was here sleeping on my leg. Nolan Gregor, my boyfriend, was actually here for me. The shock warmed and powered my body; the burden on my shoulder was lifted for once and for all he is actually here to support me. With my index finger, I delicately outlined his smooth lips. That moment made me realize he actually loved me and will be here for me, and at that moment, I knew I really do love him.

   Nolan's eyelids fluttered to life and the smooth planes of his angelic face from sleep lingered. He grasped my hand and mummered with a tender tone. "You are awake, Sera,'' he took a deep breath and quietly whispered “I thought I lost you; you better not leave my side now. It's too early for me to let you go so fast. Sera, I love you and I need you by my side no matter what."

   His gaze was fixed on the ground; with one wired hand, I tilted his face up so I could see the whites of his eyes glisten in the florescent light. "Oh, Nolan... I love you so much. I would never leave you; not for a million dollars or a million lifetimes. Never."

Chapter 2 - Sera

   Tonight, we talked and talked and talked until the sun rose and the moon disappeared. Occasionally, he caressed my face ever-so lightly and I would close my eyes and enjoy the moment but longing to do more... Maybe a kiss to make this dream stay in my mind or a picture. I just want that moment to last for the rest of my life and years to come. Nolan gracefully turned on the radio and our song played.
